1. they DO make a part, it replaces the whole front part of the console, but with a pocket. It was for the non changer models.

is part 24 what your talking about? it doesnt seem like it will fit, since it looks like its contoured towards the driver and the factory piece is straight. also, this piece wont have woodgrain, so it might make the interior look weird. anyone got any pix of it installed?

  2. Metra makes an interface for Bose and the Data System, GMOS-4 best buy has em for $120 or so, even gives you your VSS and Reverse wires on the harness, plus a 12V accesorry

have you used the metra harness? i was going to order it from crutchfield, but there are a bunch of bad reviews about it. should i order a different brand, it would be 2 seperate interfaces then though. or does the metra work fine?

  3. cool. now as far as the steering wheel interface, i have found the PAC SWI-PS and the soundgate REMPIOGM, but the soundgate says it only works on denalis till 04. i thought 03-06 is the same? is there any difference, or should i just order up the PAC? thanks for all the help! basically all i will lose when this is all done is the rear controls will not work anymore right?

  4. ok im gonna pick that up, thanks.

is there any way to get the center console cd changer to work with the avic? if not, does gm make like some kind of pocket or something that fits in there? i dont want to have a non working cd changer right in the middle of my console!

  5. im selling my stang and picking up a 2005 yukon denali. it has the factory navi with bose, but i want to take out the nav and put in my avic. does it work ok with the factory system? has anyone tried out the steering wheel interface for the avic, and does it work well? do i need to also get an onstar interface and the chime interface? who makes them?

    thanks

  6.

He told me he has the Ipod then Sirius modules in that order. He also thought that the cables are keyed and can't be reversed.
That is not true, they absolutely can be reversed. The only "keying" is a color on the ends of the cable. And if they are backwards (or possibly plugged into the wrong receptical of the box) you get full functionality and no sound.

Since it goes Z1 then ipod then sirius, that makes sense why you get sound from the ipod and not the sirius. It's either the cable from the ipod to the sirius is backwards (most common) or it's possible that since there are 2 recepticals on the sirius box, he might have the cable plugged into the wrong one. It's one of those.
i am getting sirius sound sometimes, but sometimes it just displays SIRIUS where it normally says the song info, and i cannot change the channel. sometimes it works fine. it is saying ON THE AIR, and im in manhattan so it has service. could this be the reversed cable issue?
  7. this happened a few times today, the display would show ON THE AIR, so it was getting sirius signal, but it would only display SIRIUS where it displays the song/artist etc info. i could not change channels or anything, it was like it was frozen. i was in nyc, where we have full coverage, i never had a dead spot with my sportster. im using the SIR-PNR2 with an avic z1. this is a refurb unit i just got, is it defective?

  8. first of all WOW, my z1 is finally in and working perfectly. i love this thing, its one of the best mods i have done. right up there with the 4.10 gears. anyway, i havent had time to finish reading the book, so i wanted to know if there is a setting to have it mute whatever your listening to, when its giving you navi instructions.

    thanks

  9. no i meant the 2nd post in that thread, sorry this was what i was talking about...

Unfortunately your vehicle has no VSS.they have OSS(Output Shaft Speed)only.here is solution:

1 no hook up VSS,then wait for CAN-BUS interface from Soundgate or similar mfg. 2 use API(analog to pulse interface) from Beijer Automotive from Neitherland then convert OSS to VSS. Some one try to hook up OSS from this vehicle's PCM(Powertrain Control Module),But We never do this.We think this may cause the damage of transmission or PCM. If you want to try OSS picking up, use diode just in case.

  10. i had my avic installed today, with the sirius tuner. i went from a sportster replay , direct wired to the factory headunit, to the avic with sirius tuner. i love the avic but am disapointed with the sirius. barely displays any info, doesnt show the signal strength etc. not happy. is pioneer going to switch to a better sirius tuner box? would a kenwood deck have better sirius abilities? im kinda pissed right now.
