  1. Boris, I am not speaking to you any more unless of course I need your help.... so now.....take that.....

    BorisM

I know from reading this forum that you are a great contributer and very well respected member, but I did use the search function and I have read the manual, and I couldnt find the answer, maybe we all arnt as smart as you, if I knew the answer to my question I wouldnt have posted it, just seems that you wasted your time replying to a post with a comment that wasnt useful and that you knew the answer to.

Well, you could have re-read the manual and found the answer to your question (and may be some other useful tidbits of information), but yeah, we've wasted enough time on this already.

  2. Hi guys,

Here's what I did to get internet going on my F500BT with the Spectec SDW-821. ....................................................................................................That's it!

Miotoo, thank you for this endeavor.. actually this thread should be jump'n

Will WinCE allow use of Google maps software and access the GPS feed.... inother words, can we display google maps with gps position...... fingers crossed........the thought of google in satellite view on my avic is so awesome.......please say yes - please say yes........

  3. Wow! I am so excited about this, great work.

I'd really like to know/recommend "skyfire" as the browser. I used it on my wm phones and it worked like a charm, shows everything and even allows u to stream videos ...Could you test it out?

does "skyfire" work in WinCE environment?

Meanwhile back at the ranch..... I have ordered the Spectec SD WiFi Card. I've downloaded the software wmWifiRouter and I am closer to my carputer than ever before.

    CARPUTER

    Navigation "check"

    gps "check"

    audio "check"

    video "check"

    internet "check"

    Large HD "check"

    IPOD "check"

    BT Phone "check"

add in IDT 3.0 improvements throughout....

I didnt expect to accomplish my Carputer in this way... I have a feeling this is going to grow from here

  4. hey Miotoo, why doesnt the image of the buy.com SD card look the same as in your unit..... different colors and different thicknesses (thickness appearance anyway...).... please verify when you get a moment, I want to make sure I order yours, as I can see its working...

Also, the wmwifirouter software shows my touch diamond cellphone as verified functional. Some I am getting close.

  5. Hi guys,

Here's what I did to get internet going on my F500BT with the Spectec SDW-821. ....................................................................................................That's it!

screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccccccccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhh !!!!!! manipulation....... input.......... what about mouse and keyboard function......... does touchscreen do both?..... how effectively?.....

    darn, wanted to order tonight......

At the moment I'm using a stylus as mouse and the wince built-in input panel as keyboard...

holy crapola.... thats a small keyboard popup...... looks like that auto wreck I've managed to avoid for so long looms closer....

  7.

i see, are those camera's included on the speedcam.txt or did you manually enter it? if it was included could you try manually adding a camera and check if the voice alert would play, i'm not too sure as to why this thing is happening, 69sickpack also had a problem where the unit reboots on a known speedcam location, i just experienced this last night where the unit rebooted while i'm on a route and had to stop and it rebooted again until i passed the camera, i will definitely have to figure this out

I have used the spud file from this site, and the txt file from this site. I have even converted the txt to spud and used it and the spud to txt and used it....... all 4 attempts give the same response.... no audio on the F500BT.... remember, our F500's mutes the HU audio and sends the Avic audio whenever neccessary, such as for ipod/SD or guidance.. the speedcam warning audio is not being output unless the audio is already being emitted from the F500.... gotta be some coding logic there.... but I am clueless

  8. I AM IN,

NOW...... can we make our own phones a hotspot or something like that?...... I have never had to look into this as I have a pc card for my laptop that works anywhere with Cingular/AT&T..... can my phone be used somehow?

...that is fan-f'ing-tastic......... I AM ORDERING TODAY...... WOOooooooHOOOOooooOO

    Hi guys,

Here's what I did to get internet going on my F500BT with the Spectec SDW-821. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work on the other AVIC's. Attached is the link to required files.

Download attached file and extract to a folder. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W6U10ZD4 .Inside you will find:

    1. The Spectec driver for CE 5.0. To install simply copy to your flash disk and double-click on the cab file. Once done, insert your wifi card and it will detect and launch the wifi manager. At this point you can connect to your wifi network and add the key if required.

    2. The Opera browser edited to work on CE 5.0 without install. Open the rar archive on your pc to follow the simple readme installation instructions for this one.

    That's it!

  9. Thanks for responding J,

the speedcam audio - be it voice or beeps - is not coming out of the AVIC unless I have the sd card or ipod playing..... or during the coincidence of guidance audio at the same time of speedcam warning..... I do see the visual display everytime. any ideas???

i'm not sure if you're reffering to the speedcam voice or the audible warnings, if its the speedcam voice, i'll include the volume slider for it on the next major update, i'll look into it once i get most of the priority mods done, i'll have a minor update later tonight with fix on the setting of home, the info fix, trip computer on map and edited BMP's for looks,

  10. also, I was using guidance to a POI and when it was speaking during my approach to a speedcam, I could also here the speed cam warning audio..... when the guidance audio ended, the speedcam audio stopped also........ IDT ??? comment please??

    thanks bro

No problem, this is so much better than stock that I find myself driving around just to play with the new "stuff"... well worth the $$.... I will continue to contribute to you for further time spent on your mods

I am having a problem that I have definitely pinpointed. My F500BT will only give audible speedcam warnings when I am actually listening to sound via the avic (like the SD card or Ipod) and then the warning is super loud.. LOL scares the F out of me even though I know its about to happen..... when I am using the head unit audio, I only get the display image and no sound (no HU mute and NO sound sent). Have tried multiple times, after multiple reinstalls. pretty consistent now...

basically.... no Audible warning unless listening to the avic, and warning sound level is deafening when I am listening to my ipod

there must be coders logical fix here...... ???? like sending the speedcam audio via they same way as guidance is sent out to the HU :?:

    houston has two trillion...................

houston has two trillion four hundred thousand and thirty seven red light cameras ..give or take...... this fix would be a big deal......

  12. welll.......... it's done...... it is an improvement. The heads up map display is there as advertised. Better screen touch response; better display contrast. Ironically, they fixed some things that never should have been there in the first place........I cant quite understand how a company like pioneer could release a product where the sound of the key presses would get as loud as the SD card music volume as you turned it up...ridiculous.... they fixed it..... I have been and still am happy with my Avic-Z and my F500BT........ and the IDT 3.0 is working great awesome... I owe him some $$$.........

...oh...... that packaging is a damn shame

  13. MIOTOO, it is MMCX.......... i am the poster of the MMCX info.... I tried using the MCX version of the Gilsson antenna. I had to add an adapter to change it to MMCX (my thread list the adapter - the link is already posted in this thread)..... I am using that setup right now and the Gilsson as absolutely amazing...... I get 12 green satellites at about 65-75% on the bars....... no drop outs and no "GPS SIGNAL LOST" from the AVIC. The previous performance was only a few greens, mostly yellows and a few reds..

I have sent back my second antenna and have ordered the Gilsson MMCX1M09B090.... (oredered 2 MCX originally for to in-car antenna setups...

This is not a guess..... It is in use.....

    your setup looks nice.....

Thanks ninbience for sharing your install, it does give some ideas.

About the external gps antenna, I am still struggling to understand which connector it is. The thread you mentioned saying its MMCX may be wrong, because I have one from a different gps unit made by mio, and its too small for the F500BT. Now we know from your experience that its not MCX either.

I also got in touch with pioneer and they seem clueless about it. In fact they say that they don't make an external antenna for the F500BT and they can't specify the connector type...the furthest I got from their contact was that an old panasonic made antenna model CA-GA60U "should be compatible"...

  14. Out of couriosity, where you able to use the (IDT?) mod before you did the bypass on your f500bt?

I have the 3.0 firmware installed and I edited the DATA.ZIP for the software bypass. No matter how I re-zip the file with Z-ZIP or WINRAR I get a WINCE database error and System is restarting that won't go away. I only made the one change. The only difference in the file seems to be the file size compression. The original file is about 5.57 MB and the new file is about 3.34 MB.

    Any ideas?

  15. i am sad along with you...... hope the thief gets his soon.

I wanted to install my F500BT so that it looked near factory. I actually had to reconsider because I kept thinking that someone would think its a full unit and rip my car up to find its really only an inexpensive GPS unit... so now it is installed in such a way that you can see the 1 inch thickness and I removed the "pioneer" moniker... hopefully the thiefs will see it as just a GPS and no really worth it.... it sucks that we have to consider these type of things at the top of the install list...... i hope he gets his soon

  16. Please enlighten me, are we talking about official pioneer 3.0 upgrade specifically for the F90BT?.... I am starting to get confused on whats what anymore......

I am also having an issue where every time I boot it up it always reverts back to the sd card for it's input. The last input used is not coming back on. This is after an upgrade to 3.01 from 3.0 on an F90BT with NO mods of any kind.
  17. I may just quit working....... I will be away for 2 weeks.... I will actually have a long stop over within 25 miles of my house while flying from one place to another on Friday.... I will swing by to get the update, which is at my home right now, but I will not be able to install it until August 11th or 12th...... I may just quit....AVIC more important.....

  18. well.......... good news... I had assumed that the "gps signal lost" warning only occured when i did not complete my bluetooth handshake with the avic.... It seemed that when i got the warning my bluetooth was usually not connected...

since my addition of the external gps antenna and a weekend of driving without my phone connected via bluetooth... I have not recieved any lost gps warnings....

also, for some reason I can not explain, the avic started acquiring the satellites more quickly as the hours went by... this was true from a regular AVIC system start or even after unplugging, battery removal, and hard boot.... of course, It is not continuing to decrease gps access time but it just happened quicker and quicker over the first day or two.... now it acquires gps signal fast enough that i no longer have that complaint..

Why would the gps aquisition time change during the time I have used the external antenna?? in other words why would it be 1 minute when first installing the antenna and then drop to 40 seconds over a two day period (i havent actually timed it, but it is a noticebly quicker link up)

still love the 12 green satellites I now show on my globe...... and there is a small but noticable improvement in all gps related functions.. i.e. when it says you will do "A" in 400 ft.. it seems more like it is actually 400 ft....

    now for my 3.0 update......

  19. we all have to do one of three things with the new 3.0 update...

    1) hack the new update to add goodys and effective mods,

    2) wait for someone capable to do the hacks and share with the community, or

    3) leave the update as is and live with it..

unfortunately, I fall into number two....... some of the wizards in our community will dive in as soon as they get their hands on 3.0.....

what a shame.... Computer science was my minor, but that was many moons ago..... this is really making me want to get back into it..........

  20. gps antenna part number is "Gilsson MMCX1M09B090" available at amazon for 22.95

my added adapter is straight just like the antenna above. but the cable is small and robust. You will easily be able to radius bend it 90 degrees. I intend to add a small velcro assembly to the back of the unit to hold the cable and still allow removal....

Thanks for the update, that was a close one I've been shopping around all afternoon lol
