X2 vblue, but I guess it's worth a try, not my money

"good" music these days is hard to find.....
Rise Against is my favorite rock band at the time, but I can't find much else worth listening to.
-
Pioneer quoted me around $500 for repair. I'd rather buy something else then spend that much money on this head unit.
I tried to open the screen yesterday and the eject button is messed up and it wouldn't open. I'm gonna try to dig it out and see if I can get to the board to get it open.
Do you guys know if the LCD module that they sell for $286 comes with the complete faceplate? Any other recommendations?

It's done.....

Don't have the harness, it's still in the vehicle that's not here. I did try to power it up on the workbench, but not sure if I had the right pins. Couldn't find a very good picture anywhere. I used the black plug, top and bottom pins on the inside (top for 12V and bottom for ground), also used the 3rd pin from the inside for ignition. Tried that with power on top, then power on bottom, neither seemed to work. I may call them to get the harness tomorrow.

How can you tell that the LCD isn't broken?
Notice the eject button?

I was installing a Z2 for a customer (that luckily was my cousin) and broke the screen. This was going in a new Explorer with very little room behind the radio. As I was holding the head unit up to the mounting holes, I removed 1 hand to get the screws and when I did, my thumb pressed too hard on the screen and it cracked. Not only did it crack the glass, but the LCD is busted too.
I found a couple places that repair these, but they're saying $500. United Radio said "send $175, we'll give you a quote, then if you don't fix it, we'll refund $110", or something like that. Basically, I need to weigh the options whether or not to repair this one or buy him something different.
I can buy the LCD module for $286 from Pioneer, and I may be able to repair it myself. I've got most of it apart except for the screen. The harness is still in the Explorer so I cant get the unit powered up at the moment.
The other option is to buy them a u310BT. We've discussed that option and it's okay with him because it's for his daughter and he isn't concerned with not having DVD capabilities.

A customer of mine just picked up a new iphone 4 and currently has a Z2 with the older ipod adaptor, not sure which one.
Is there a new interface for the newer ipods?
-
Yes, I know you ground 2 wires. You don't understand what I'm asking..... Which 2 wires, which one gets moved? Everything I've found is for the Z1 and this IS NOT a Z1, the harnesses are different.
I think it's figured out anyway. Someone should either start a new thread or find the old one and re-sticky it.
-
I'm trying to do the bypass on a Z2. I've searched everywhere on here, and it keeps bringing up Z1 stuff. In one particular thread, there's a link that says "to do the 2-wire bypass for the Z2, click here". Clicked, and saw pics of a Z1 harness, and absolutely nothing on the Z2. On the Z2, there are no extra slots to change wiring pins, so do you ground the mute wire and the parking brake wire?

Kind of what I figured. The D3 was much better than this crap. I guess I thought there was some false hope of at least part of it being fixed or changed in some kind of update.

I have a few issues with this.....
2008 GMC Sierra
F700 with 2.0 update
Blackberry 8830 phone
*Sometimes it freezes at the map disclaimer screen. Only way to get around it is to power down, then back on.
*Reverse camera sometimes stays on 10-15 seconds after it's switched out of reverse, sometimes its faster.
*Bluetooth is slow, if it even works. I dial a number and sometimes it mutes the radio immediately, sometimes the person has already answered and is about to hang the phone up before it comes through on the speaker.
*Won't disconnect phone call sometimes. I press end either on the phone or the head unit, nothing happens. Screen is frozen, no audio, can only disconnect the BT on the phone by disabling it.
Any ideas?

thats a good observation, mine does the same thing, but I found that if I leave it alone for a few minutes it goes away on its own. Just in case I always make sure that the actual phone has ended the call.
I've tried leaving mine alone, but in the times that it's done it, it never "unfroze".

Verizon Blackberry 8830 and F-700BT with 2.0 installed.
Works fine at times. Sometimes after a call, I end it with the end button on the phone. The head unit doesn't disconnect and acts like the call is still active. The screen freezes and only the volume knob works. The only way to get out of this is to turn off the ignition to turn the radio off, then back on.

when the wares come loose you havta rehook'em up

It's the second one. First one had a freezing problem and I can't remember if it had noise or not.
-
Still got the noise. Anyone else got any idea's?

I mean, on your D3 AV Menu, BT phone, tap Function, Phone Register, and make sure the first slot there is your phone and not anyone else. If not, delete it, and make connection to your current phone, if not yet connected. And hold that 1st slot until your phone displays in that slot.
I did that yesterday and what I hadn't been doing was adding it to the list. Works just fine now.....
Thanks for all the help fellas!

I did that...
I also tried the "Device Name" to be 0000 so it would skip a step and that didn't work.
Under "Device Properties" on the phone I have the following:
Device Name: 0000
Trusted: Yes
Encryption: Enabled
Echo Control: Automatic
Under "Options" I have:
Device name: 0000
Discoverable: Yes
Allow outgoing calls: Always
Address Book Transfer: All entries (Like it matters because Verizon screws us up on that)

Thanks hottwhyrd. I'm pretty sure all the pins are good and I know troubleshooting over the net is worthless, but I sure appreciate everyone trying. Sometimes it takes a fresh mind or second person's experience. I haven't installed many of the Z2's or D3's, but the ones I have installed have been pretty noisy. I just hate to tell a customer that's the best it'll get after spending $1,800 on a head unit.
-
Thanks, I'll try that. I lost the contacts stored in the unit a couple weeks ago because I had to have the D3 replaced.
-
did you still have the old phone registered in the 1st slot? Cuz the D3 seem to autoconnect only to the 1st slot. Also, check to see if auto connect is set to on.
Thanks for the reply. I've deleted the first phone, and the auto connect is set to on. Now that I think of it, I can't remember if the new phone is added on that first slot. How can I add it? The head unit and phone are paired and work, but I'm not sure if it's added in that slot...
z120BT randomly reboots
in Problems/Troubleshooting
Posted
I installed a Z120BT in a customers 05 Escalade and it randomly reboots. Nothing seems to cause it, as it does it at any volume, no volume, and when the vehicle is sitting still. I removed the radio, checked everything, and while it was on I installed it back into the dash, so essentially if there was a loose connection it should have happened, but didn't. I'm using a PAC OS-2Bose harness.
Are there any firmware issues that may cause this?
