  1. Please keep in mind he knows I'm using a NEX 8000.  Maybe the problem is specific to that model.

Humm, totally confused. But I guess an Android stick do not have a GPS included, so it cannot be used for Google Maps and other software.

But dI'd I understand that it is only an issue on the AR4?

Appradio Unchained Reloaded built in GPS injection confirmed working on AR2 & AR3 by Area51.  AR4 and NEX have not.

  2. Unfortunately, I think you may find yourself very disappointed there.  After talking to Area51 (the ARU Reloaded developer), Pioneer does not allow the transfer of GPS data from their unit to the phone (or Android stick in this case)  That blows this option right out of the water for me as I really need to be able to use Waze or Google Maps.  Now, if they were to include GPS capablilities with a stick, they would really get my attention!!

Area51 just confirmed with me on the XDA forum that Appradio Unchained Reloaded does indeed work on AR2 & AR3 with Android sticks.

It is AR4 that uses another message format that he said he is working on supporting as well.

My Android stick should arrive by Friday.  Looking forward to tying this out!

  3. ninja98r, you probably missed it but the link is in the post you quoted :-)

    $60 Canadian, not too bad...

    Hi meall,

I did indeed check out that link but noticed that there are various android versions on the market.

Some mention "newest model" with android versions ranging from 4.1 to 4.4.2?

The link Cathaldub provided was android 4.1 while others range up to android 4.4.2.

Yep, you've to root the device, takes about 5 minutes using an application called kingo. The app is installed through the play store though.

I used the USB that was on the radio cable for the iPod but you could power it straight off the Cig Lighter too. I do intend to install a small little USB battery pack behind the centre console which charges while the car is on, so it only needs to boot up when this battery dies. I drive the car every day so this battery should never really run out.

I would have bought the AR4 myself but think I'll wait a generation or 2 until the bugs are ironed out. I don't listen to any podcasts myself at the minute but podcast republic will let you listen to apple podcasts, I listen to most my music through Spotify and I also have an iPod in the car too which I can now use the iPod app again.

I was also considering jumping ship from an ios to an android phone due to my buggy AR3 with ios8.  This may be a good alternative....

I noticed that there are various MK809iii hdmi sticks on Amazon.ca and other sites.  Should we be looking for any particular model to mate with AR3 & ARU-R?

Some mention "newest model" with android versions ranging from 4.1 to 4.4.2?

Also , if I intend to use my iphone 5 as the internet hotspot would I need any additional connectors?

I suspect that the MK809iii will sit on my glove box and connect to my AR3 Android usb and HDMI connections.  Will that power the the MK809iii?

I think I'm ready to give this a try - just want to ensure that I order the correct bits ;)

    Thanks for sharing Cathaldub!

  5. I tried scrolling through the favorites list, or any list for that matter and it does not work. I tried with the parking brake activated and not activated and no scrolling whatsoever. I seem to recall this being an issue before as well.

Indeed it has! Appradio bugs such a scrolling menus haven't been fixed in well over a year maybe longer.... Not since Waze 3.6 has it worked on Appradio without major bugs. Really very unfortunate. In fact at times dangerous. They should update or not claim to be compatible.

  6. Did anyone else with AR3 and iphone 5 update waze?

I have lost touch controls in various screens. Can't seem to find anyone else on the web stating the same issue since the recent release 3.7.6.0

Navigation lists no longer scroll on my AppRadio 3 touchscreen!

You can no longer touch, scroll, or drag the following:

    1) "Recents" list on the main "Navigate" screen,

    2) "Favorites" list, and

    3) "Search results" list after I pick a Category. All other touch functions work

This had occured in a previous update which was fixed. Doh!

  7. In response to:

1 - USB to Lightning cable. ($1.70 on dx.com) deal extreme free shipping!

    http://dx.com/s/ipho...e?Sort=PriceL2H

You'll plug this between the AppRadio (usb port on pigtail) and the HDMI Lightening Adapter

Are you referring to the "AppRadio (usb port on pigtail)" connection that the manual "displays "is required for Android phones? The AR3 did add a standard USB connection for android but does not include the USB cable that is proprietary on one end for iPhone.

  8. I had replied to a post on a different forum but didn't get a response..... This forum seems to be more active

I'm a bit confused on if I will require the CD-IH202 cable kit for the AR3 SPH-DA210?

It is my understanding that the AR3 does not come with the USB extension cable that the AR2 did.  This cable connects to Apple's digital AV adaptor via Lightening to USB cable.

Those with the AR2 who connected iPhone 5 didn't need to buy the kit b/c the AR2 already had the USB extension with one end being proprietary to pioneer.  All they needed was an additional HDMI cable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'll need at least the Pioneer specific USB extension for AR3 on iPhone 5?
Do they offer this cable separately or do I have to buy it via the CD-IH202 kit?

I really don't need to pay for another HDMI cable and wire loom....

    THX!
