US Naval Aviation Backgrounds

Recommended Posts

Put in my D3 last week and messed with a few images I've saved from Navy.mil over the last few years. Most are pretty basic and make good backgrounds. Not too many fancy Photoshop tricks here, just good imagery.I've got tons more that I plan to play with and post the good ones.

All source images are courtesy of the US Navy. "FLY NAVY!"

Seems to work differently for different models but here is what worked for me:

Model: D3

Media: Maxell DVD+R

App: Nero Burning ROM 8

OS: WinXP x64

What worked for me:

1) Put all my JPGs in a folder named PICTURES

2) Drag & Drop the PICTURES fodler into a Nero session to create a DVD (ISO)

3) Drag & Drop a huge file (in this case another ISO that was 500MB or so) into the root

4) Inserted the blank media and burned the disk

5) Put the disc in the D3 and got an invalid format error

6) Checked to see if still would recognize the PICTURES folder and sure enough it did and was able to tranfer the files

What didn't work for me:

- Using Windows Vista to burn the disc via the file system

I'm sure other people might have been able to do it without the junk data but i didn't want to find out the hard way. It pretty much worked as the directions put it but I think alot has to do with the media and the app you use to make the burn.
