hello and a question from another noob

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm obviously new to the site. I was refered from powerstroke.org were I've been a member for a while. I was very pleased to see all of the information on this site, looks to be some pretty sharp folk around here. I just got my avic d3 installed in my super duty and I'm stoked, a few problems though. Here goes nothing, thanks in advance for the help :D

1. bypass was done, (yes in its entirety) yet the dvd function and the nav menu is restricted while in motion.

2. on the vehicle monitoring screen (the one with the gauges) the slope indicator has a message over it; "this function not available at this time".

Any ideas????? :?

1. Bypass was NOT done in it's entirety.

2. How far have you driven the vehicle since it was installed. Generally takes a couple hundred miles for the system to get far enough into learning status to give you a slope readout. The other possibility is that the vss is NOT hooked up. If it's not hooked up the slope will never become availible.

Entirety, perhaps. Correctly? Doesn't look like it. I'd check it personally.

Either:

1) You haven't driven around enough. The D3 needs to learn how to calculate readings from its gyros and the VSS specific to the installation angle in your car and your Speed Pulse Generator. This takes time (or more specifically, distance). Try driving around more.

2) If it still has problems, your VSS is not connected properly. On the Z series, you can check to make sure it's receiving a pulse in the Hardware connection screen. I dont' know specifically where to check on the D series, sorry. Maybe you can look for something similar?
