Can't get AT&T w580i to transfer contacts

So i just got my new phone today... and i was anxious to hook it up to the bluetooth unit (btb200) and i was able to do so very fast, the w580i is basically a big brother to my old phone the w600i so it was nothing new.

 

My issue came when i tried to transfer contacts. Initially, the phonebook transfer button on the D3 was grayed out... so im like wtf... i figured out that i had to register the phone on the unit. Ok done. Then i hit the transfer button and the bluetooth disconnected from my phone. I was like wtf? so i then reconnected it and tried sending from my phone. It gave me an error "item not accepted by device" or something like that... im lost as to what i might be doing wrong, or what settings i need to change.. .please help me out. thanks.
