Video formats from DVD?

Recommended Posts

I've got an AVIC-D3, and I'm wondering what all formats of video files it can play from either a DVD or an iPod. I found a program that converts video from youtube or different URLs to a few different modes...

-Apple iPod (Mpeg4/AAC)

-Sony PSP (Mpeg4/AAC)

-MP4 Mobile phones (Mpeg4/AAC)

-3GP Mobile Phones (H263/AMR)

-MP3 (Audio only)

I was wondering what would be the best format to put videos on a DVD for to read in my D3, and the same with the iPod (iPod, I'm assuming, obviously)

No.

You have two choices for playing video on the d3. The first being a dvd. Obviously your typical standard movie dvd or backed up copies of a dvd will play just fine. You also have the ability to play avi files which have been encoded to divx and burned onto a dvd as a data disc.

The second choice is via your ipod. Once the ipod is connected to the d3 you can view videos which are stored on your ipod. The ipod will play videos which are in mp4 format.

So essentially what you want to do is either of the following:

1. Encode all your movies (from youtube or wherever) to Divx and burn them onto a dvd as a data disc.

2. Convert your movies (from youtube or wherever) to mp4 and store them on your ipod.

Hope this helps
