Pioneer D3 Nav Problem

Hi,

I have a problem with the navigation voice prompts. When happens is that if I were to be playing music, say from the iPod, and the navigation is telling me prompts on where to go, turn, etc. After the nav is done telling me the directions and it is resuming the music, it gets very loud for a second or so, and then normalizes down to the volume I previously set.

If it is not clear enough, this is what happens:

1) I am playing music from the iPod on the head unit...the volume is set like at 12

2) I am approaching an upcoming turn or whatever...the navigation interrupts the music and tells me what to do

3) After the nav is done talking, the volume of the music goes up..say 17 or 18, and then goes back down back to 12 or whatever I set it before getting the music muted in order for the navigation to tell me the directions.

What is the problem? Do I have a defective head unit?

 

Here is my configuration:

2003 4Runner w/ JBL Synthesis system

Soche (or however you spell it) special wiring harness in order for me to utilize the 10 speakers

Pioneer D3, manufactured in Jan 2008
