new iPods track display freezing - still an issue?

I have tried searching for this answer but have only found very old posts with conflicting information.

 

Is there still an issue with the current track freezing on the Z(x) when using a new generation iPod?

 

Also, since the new iPods require the Apple cable with the chip for video, is there any way to watch video and charge the iPod at the same time, say via a car charger? I know this is possible with the older gens that can use the 1/8th inch mini-plug for A/V out.
