Traffic button on the D3

The traffic button on the main screen has never worked for me. Does anyone know why that is? I'm assuming that button has something to do with Nav traffic. If so, I also purchased that as well from XM radio.

I dont have the traffic option but a few things that come to mind

do you have a subscription to that?

is the unit activated/authorized by xm?

Yes, I'm subscribed to nav traffic and went through the activation process with XM. My xm radio service works fine.

I think that button is on a "default" menu for Sirius and XM as they both seem to have the same GUI. It does work for Sirius as it will take you to the traffic channel that Sirius broadcasts. It doesn't work for XM, I don't think they broadcast traffic channels like Sirius. I just installed the XM w/ Navtraffic and was noticing the same thing.

i have avic-d3 and the traffic button works fine on mine i get updates and im paying $16 a month for xm/navtraffic.thats the function come on as soon as you come to a stop......

I think he's talking about the "traffic" radio button when you are in the XM mode not the map/ nav mode. Which one are you referring to? XM or map?

you have to tune to a traffic station for your area

then, hold that traffic button down for about 10 seconds, the radio will pop up a message stating its now set for that station to be your traffic station.

then it should work

Now that makes sense! The XM traffic channel for my area is 222, so if I tune XM to ch. 222 then hold the traffic button it will set ch. 222 to memory for the traffic button. Thanks, I guess I should have R.T.F.M.!
