N2 Map Disc on N3?

Hi guys, new to the forum here.

 

 

I have an N2 (west) map disc from my old unit (that got stolen 2 years ago) and was wondering if it will work with an N3 that I purchased used from a friend (he lost the dvd's). I tried putting it in but it says 'Please Insert Appropriate Disk'. My other friend says it should work. Am I doing something wrong or it does not really work?
