erebay
I tried to upgrade my Z1 to Z3 by connecting the original hard drive to my desktop via the adaptor mentioned in the tutorials. I made sure the pins were correctly connected and powered off before connecting. When I booted my computer and ran HDDunlock, it did not recognize the hard drive. Neither the bios or the device manager could see the hard drive. I didn't hear any noise from the hard drive itself. I bought another adaptor and still the same thing happened. When I reconnected the hard drive to the Z1, the unit powered up but said the hard drive was not useable or something to that effect. I made sure I handled the hard drive carefully by only holding the sides and not squeezing the middle during the whole process. Is the hard drive that sensitive? What do you think I did wrong? I'm thinking I shorted the hard drive?
jwq
Check that you did not bend any pins in the connector when you connected the drive to the adaptor....
