Does AVIC-D2 fit 2002 Nissan Maxima

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima with Bose Audio. Crutchfield's web site says it will not fit as does best buy and circuit city. I called Pioneer and they say it does fit since I have a double din slot in the Maxima. I can also find a double din dash adapter for the Maxima.

I have a D1 in my car...yes it works just fine. I purchased a Nissan Double DIN trim from the Maxima with NAV. FOUND HERE: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/ ... 8750-VENTC

You unscrew the stock radio from the mounting bracket and screw it to the D2

If you already have the Bose stereo, you might already have the above trim piece.....
Hope this helps.....

PS... you do end up with a small gap at the bottom....about 1/4 to 5/16 of an inch..... I used black plastic to fill in the gap....looks and works great.

Thanks for you quick reply. This sounds like it will do the trick. One more question. Did you have to install the Nissan integration adapter to match to the speaker system or is there another nissan specific harness adapter I would need?

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll find out how the kit looks as I just committed to the install. I had planned to do myself over the holidays, but my local Pioneer distributor has reduced the price to $999. Claims Pioneer has just lowered their price. I couldn't beat that price from an authrozed dealer on the internet so decided to go ahead. Dealer won't do the bypass though so I'll still have to do that myself.

Yes..the factory GXE kit looks ALOT better... who knows...it might be fine for you but the only kit that made me happy was the factory GXE kit.
Good luck....
Whether you have a Bose kit or not... there is a kit specified for it.... you will also need a radio antenna adapter.....
There is also and trick with the wiring that you need to be able to still utilize your MPG, TIME, AVG.Speed etc..... otherwise it will show Temp only all the time. You can go on forums.maxima.org for the answer.... you can also get a PAC kit from crutchfield....this way you can still use the volume an everything.... I haven't got this yet but will soon.....
