baddaybeav
I haven't seen this posted anywhere so I'll ask... I have the Avic D3 w/ rear view camera, XM w/ Nav, Bluetooth. I recently installed it in an 05 GMC Envoy. using the Metra GMOS-4 adapter to maintain bose+onstar. I had alternator noise, so I grabbed some of the Radio Shack ground loop isolators. WHen I put those in the alternator whine stopped, but I started getting some crackling coming from the speakers. This happens even when I completely unhook the stereo from the metra unit as far as the RCA's are concerned. is it possible my Metra device has gone bonkers? Thanks, Mark. timsmith93
You've fried a fuse on your circuit board that is present in I believe all Pioneer head units. This fuse grounds the shield of the RCA cables, and without it you will hear clicking, popping, etc whenever something electrical is activated in the vehicle, not to mention an irritating alternator whine at all times. I'll attach a poor quality cell phone picture of this, you can find threads on the net relating to it as well. One of those is http://forums.corvetteforum.com/audio-electronics/2305049-pioneer-avic-rca-fuse-fix-tutorial.html
