bomfunk9
hi, i tried searching but didn't find exactly the same problem, so decided to post. my f90bt turns on for a couple of seconds with the flash screen and then goes blank. sometimes it feels that if you press the right button at the right moment the screen turns on and i have full functionality of the unit. playing with SD card helped a few time. i still didn't figure out the exact "procedure" to turn it on and am not sure if there's one. with the screen off the unit still works. you can back/forward and control volume, plus eject. that's about it. if i plug in ipod or SD it will start playing that source. a simple reset obviously didn't fix it. it was professionally installed and "unlocked". i still run 2.0. unit is less than old. bought on ebay "brand new". not sure though how true it is,may be it was a refurb. called today 'short circuit' place that said can fix it for about $280 (WOW!). I paid 600-700 for the whole unit. the guy said that some 'contact' gets loose on this unit. i honestly doubt it. will not be surprised if there's an easy fix and they just want to make a quick and easy buck. please help. this looks like a very similar problem to the one posted. although i'm not sure if i have to go into setup screens and all that. thank you. another gsxr 1k
I'd recommend staying out of the setup screens unless you are absolutely sure about what you are doing. search the hacks and mods section for the test mode v2.3 files and download them and follow the directions to get it onto an SD card. Let us know if you can boot into test mode.
bomfunk9
my recent development: i was able to turn on the screen a couple of times by pressing menu and map buttons together. however that doesn't work consistently. either it has to be a specific time when to press or smth else. i really doubt that there's a contact loose, that has to be saldered as the tech guy from "short circuit" told me. if that were the case it would be on/off situation on every bump. i lean towards a software issue. damn, why can't pioneer make something that just works, like apple. it's a freaking stereo, not a mainframe computer. i'm amazed how many issues i read about on this forum. will think twice before bying anything from them again . please help. who else has any ideas on what this can be. thx
