djbstl
I've gotta question regarding an HDTV setup for the 900. Currently I have everything I need installed and the picture is great when I'm not in motion. Unfortunately in motion, even with an antenna booster I can't get a signal. This is the antenna I have for the moment: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11080816 Can anyone suggest an antenna that will pick up a signal when in motion? I have a 2009 Scion XB, so I have a hatchback which should easily pickup broadcasted signal with the right antenna (or so I would think). Thanks in advance!!!

djbstl
The 900BT us version can receive HDTV ?! it is not possible with the Euro version. All I did was split the AV input so I can run my ipod and tv on the unit. The only thing I have to do is toggle between ipod and video in the settings to make it work. I have an HDTV receiver under my passanger seat and I ran the cables under the carpet into the unit. Works perfect. Just need to know what to get for an antenna to make it work when driving. ekrboi
I have messed with this on a customers car before.. With the current generation of hdtv antennas i dont think its ever going to work. We tried the supplied antenna... we even tried to use a big one for home use.. it was a LITTLE better but not much. If you find something that does work please let me know!
djbstl
Here's what I'm not fully understanding: I read some posts from people that their antenna can get some reception in motion while driving out of their trunk. I've got a hatchback so I have the antenna pointing right at the window with no obstruction, yet I cant get a signal when driving. The antenna I have cost $30. Its nothing special, but it doesnt have rabbit ears. Instead its a flat square (as listed in the link I posted earlier) pointing at my window. Should I be looking for a different antenna or is this really just not duable at the moment with current technology?
ekrboi
I would have to say its not very doable with current technology. The best i was able to get was with a home antenna which is like you are describing.. it was a flat... white.. rectangle that was about 12" x 8" and 3/4" thick. worked way better than the one that came with the tuner but still choppy at best while driving. Think old school.. old rabbit ear analog antennas.. you had to move them around to get a good signal.. if you sat there barely moving the "ears" up and down even 1" the signal would go in and out.. ekrboi
AND.. the home one i used was "amplified" it had an ac/dc converter to 12 volts so i powered it using the cars 12volts and only made it SLIGHTLY better
wiretap
In the USA, we're using digital ATSC now. It's a technology that is not made to be broadcast to a moving object. To get TV while in motion, the best option is streaming internet tv via a cell phone, directv's mobile service, or sirius/xm tv. In the not so distant future (a few years?) the US is supposed to open up the 6MHz waves for mobile digital TV. http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/16/us-m ... -approved/
