rockgod
I just installed a pioneeer mic last night and paired my phone. I can make and recieve calls, but the other person can't hear a word I'm saying. I also paired my wifes phone, who uses a BT earpiece with no problems. I have never used the mic before, obviously, so I'm not very familiar with how it works. I updated teh VR catalog and it said success, but still nothing. Is there an option to turn on the VR? I am running the 3.020100 firmware. Can someone help troubleshoot this? I'm out of ideas. I checked the mic connection and it feels firmly in there and no visible damage to the connection. It is a brand new pioneer mic. please help.
dianebrat
VR for music is a US only feature, if you're not in the US, it won't work. You said you paired with your wife's phone, does it work properly with the mic on that? if so then the mic and wiring are not the issue.
narcolept
Before you go replying to any other threads, like the one in the hacks/mods section you already have. How about some info? Which AVIC F-Series unit are you using? What phone(s) have been paired? Where is the mic installed at?
rockgod
It's a US model avic f700bt running 3.010200 firmware, installed in a 2004 cadillac cts 3.6L sport luxury model. I paired my blackberry 8350i, my T-MO garminfone asus and my wife's T-MO samsung gravity. All three of the phones work with my wifes BT earpiece. All three of the phones paired up and synced the phone books with no problems, I could make calls and recieve calls with no problems, however, the person on the other end of the call couldn't hear a word. I could hear them perfectly clear. I could also update the VR catalog for my ipod with success, but no voice commands worked. I have the mic plugged into the back of the unit where it is marked for the mic. It is in there firmly and there is no visible damage to the units connections. The mic is brand new, just installed last night. I haven't mounted the mic yet, so I could test it. I have moved it around trying to find a good location for it, but anywhere I have it, it's the same problem, the other party can't hear me and no ipod coomands work. I'm at a loss and don't know how to continue, which is why I'm asking the more experienced avic users.
narcolept
Either the mic is bad, or the mic port is bad. Garmin mics, which are better than the stock mic, can be had for 10-15$ either on ebay or in a local store. I'd test with one of them before diagnosing the port as bad.
