Workaround for over 1000 contacts?

I've got over 2,500 contacts. Way too many for the Z-120's 1,000 number limit. It will take me a long time to whittle down my outdated contacts to get under the limit and I probably won't want to delete that many.

 

Any idea on how I can get only the contacts I want to transfer? For example, create a new contacts "group" in my address book on the mac? Or, is the only alternative to sit in the car and manually transfer each contact individually?

i was able to create my own list of contacts for my f900 with directions from another thread

you may be able to try something similar with the Z
