USB and iPod question

Going to install a Z120BT. I have a USB port in my center console that I want to hook up to the Z120BT.

 

I will also run a 4 pole AV extension cable to the console.

So with this, I should be able to hook up a CD-IU50V within the console for an iPod and still be able to disconnect it for other USB devices. So two questions:

 

1) Anyone tried this? Seems like it should work.

 

2) If I hook up another device to the USB, will it work normally. Does changing the AV settings for AV1 to iPod somehow change the behavior of the USB? Seems like it shouldn't.
