RobertoB
Hi guys, Bought a car yesterday and it came with a pioneer avic-f900bt. I found the USB connector poking out from the side of the centre console, hooked up my standard white iPhone cable and plugged my iPhone 4 in. It gave me all my albums and details etc on the screen and the iphone charges but no sound... I can't figure it out, tried another iPhone 4 and a iPod the same problem, songs start playing but no sound comes out. Any ideas? I same the cd107 blah blah cable online for sale for $50, will this allow me to charge and play music? Just a bit confused as to why the normal USB will allow me to see all the songs on my iPhone and charge but not play sound, is this normal? Thanks in advance!

RobertoB
Ok I'm happy to buy and install it but not sure why the head unit would recognize all my music but not play it...? And you are certain that if I shell put the $50 it will work?
VBLUE42
Yes, you will not get audio or video without that cable. The audio/video does not travel over USB. That is why you cant hear/see it.
RobertoB
Ok thanks guys, bought a cable and charging adapter from eBay
VBLUE42
Cable and charging adapter? Get the cable that is required and listed on the Pioneer web site if you want trouble free operation. As pointed out in many threads on this site, eBay is the worst place to buy your cable.
RobertoB
Damn thanks for the heads up, already bought the cables but cost me $30 delivered, hopefully they are good... Also the connection at the front that looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack, I pulled a double ended cable into it from my iPhone but no sound, what is this? Also is this cable compatible with my HU http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001TINUF4/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/191-0111144-8321022
VBLUE42
No. You need the CD-IU230V or the Apple Composite AV cable.
RobertoB
No. You need the CD-IU230V or the Apple Composite AV cable. Is there any difference between the 2 cables?
VBLUE42
Not physically. The Apple cable is far better made and will last longer. The Pioneer cable will be hard to find. The ones on eBay are likely fake and will give about a 50% failure rate.
