Where do I start?

Ok I want to mod my AVIC-F90BT but there is so much information on this site. Some old and some new I don't even know where to start.

 

I have been reading on here a lot but I don't know which firmware I have currently for one. I do know I want to update to 2011 maps. I also wouldn't mind updating the graphics and probably doing the speedcam. I will also want to do the software bypass for sure as well.

 

Any tips on where to start? I just don't want to do an update that is already outdated hence the main reason I am asking you guys. So what are the more popular choices?

 

Last questions how do I go about backing up my AVIC before I mod in case I mess it up somehow.
