X930BT with iPod Touch and Wifi and Pandora/Aha Radio

Hello,

 

I am interested in possibly getting the X930BT. It looks like a very nice unit and has gotten good reviews. I also like the ability to use Pandora or Aha Radio on it. And while I do have a newer iPod touch that supports these apps, I do not have an iPhone instead I have an Android based phone. My android phone has the ability to make itself a hotspot. So I was wondering, is it possible to use the iPod touch with internet access connected over Wifi and connected to the X930BT to still have full functionality of Pandora and Aha Radio? Has anyone tried this or have any input?

Yeah, that was I was thinking to that it would work. I was looking through the instruction manual and it didn't say it specifically so I figured I would ask.

 

VBLUE42- Have you actually tried, or do you just know it works?

 

I also wonder about the Aha Radio with the traffic updates. Does it rely off of the car GPS for location based updates or does it rely on the cell GPS being enabled? If it relies on cell GPS, then that feature would not be able to work since the Ipod touch uses Wifi for GPS based services if available.

 

ZAKsPop- It works well, just like connecting the Ipod to a normal router for internet connection. The advantage of a rooted 4G phone lol.

I can say that it works flawlessly. Add that with a hacked version of Pandora with unlimited skips and no ads and my commute is golden . I don't use AHA Radio, but I've tested it and that works fine as well.

I have used it with a Jailbroken iPhone and a first gen iPod Touch. It works flawlessly. It should work with any device that is capable of being tethered or a wifi hotspot.

Thanks again for the replies! Good to know, looks like I may be making a new purchase. I had an original F90BT back a couple years ago, but iPod issues and the map upgrade let me to sell it. The x930BT looks like a huge improvement over the old F90BT.

 

One other question regarding the apps...do I have to actually start the apps each time I get back into the car after shutting the car off, or as long as I open the app up on the ipod and leave it running, I will be good to go and won't have to start the apps up again once I turn the car and radio back on? Hope you know what I mean lol.

As long as the app is running in the multitasking viewer it will be good to go without having to open the app every time you get in the car.

I use the ipod touch as well. How are you able to get it to work without opening the app every time?

 

I usually leave the touch in the car. But when I try to open aha or pandora- it always tells me to open the app on the ipod. Its works, but its kinda annoying.

 

What are your settings? Is it jailbroken? BTW I got ios5 if it makes a difference.
