drozovs
Ok, so I was reading a post about how the instrument cluster on the new STI's are always illuminated therefor (if I understood this correctly) making the illumination wire null as far as full functionality from it on the AVIC-Z1. My question is the following: Can you hook the illumination wire through the turbo gauge back light since that only comes on with the light switch? Thanks! tillithz
yes, but why not use the one in the harness behind the radio itself. I think you were going off of an old post back in july or something. The illumination wire has been 'figured' out since then. So just use whats behind the radio as it lights us according to if the lights are on or off.
drozovs
I thought that the Z1's illumination wire needed to be hooked to a source that turned on and off with the head lights and that the console does not. I didn't look but I am assuming that the radio wire harness does the same feature as the turbo gauge... and that it is a 12v source? If this is the case what was the big post in regards to this for the New STI's? Thanks! David
tillithz
ok well you need to NOT go to the instrument cluster. lets try this the old fashioned way and go to the radio harness. I dont want to get into the illuminations functionality with you too much but it should be fine behind the radio
