easyeatlanta
Just installed a x930bt in my truck and cannot acquire any satellites I didn't hook up the vss wire but as I have read that only helps in bad reception areas. Any help would be greatly appreciated because im taking a road trip on monday
zx6rrdan
The vss will help with GPS accuracy everywhere but doesn't have to do with picking up the GPS signals. I'd get GPS sensor is plugged in fully.

zx6rrdan
I'd still confirm the plug is fully seated and where do you have the sensor installed? If it's free try placing it on the outside of the dash or outside the car to confirm that it's working correctly.

lbridges
Do you have one of the vehicles that has a metal film in the windshield? GPS can't see through them. Put the GPS puck outside the vehicle attached to a metal base (hood, roof, etc.), park with no roof or garage over you, and give the device maybe 10 minutes for the initialization to take. If it doesn't work then you have a bad GPS puck, bad wiring, or bad head unit.
easyeatlanta
my portable gps has no problem with my windshield
1loudls
my portable gps has no problem with my windshield fine, then dont try his trouble shooting steps. good luck finding the problem if you wont rule out possible issues. but in the end, you either have a bad antenna, a bad avic, or a bad antenna placement. and no, there is nothing to activate for gps, you simply turn it on, and let it work. easyeatlanta
chill buddy i have already tried what he has said to try thank you very much I was only adding a common sense fact, the first place it was located was on my roof.
1loudls
the first place it was located was on my roof. how did you get the wire from outside the car to inside? what are the chances that the antenna wire was damaged?
