HackZ
Has anyone had any success using a solid state drive in a USB enclosure with there Z140bh, I have been reading around and have not found much information yet on this topic. Thanks for any information
zx6rrdan
Some people have connected external drives but really not much point as there is a limit of 300 folders 2500 files so people just use a 32 or 16GB microSD card.
HackZ
Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. Only reason I would rather a SSD then a SD Card I feel would be the read speeds (100MB/s to 500MB/s Vs 10MB) I am not sure if the Avic head units can even remotely manage speeds like this but I thought it would make video a lot less choppy. rgarjr
USB would bottleneck an SSD drive probably. I use an iPod Classic for music and an SD card for videos.
VBLUE42
As long as the unit has to do the decoding of the video which is what happens with USB/SD other then Apple iDevice its going to be unstable. It has nothing to do with read speed.

Limit for video file is 1000kb/s total bit rate for the file so it is well below the card speed limit. I use a class 10 microSD card that is fast reading and writing and no lag issues with video.
