Pioneer AVH-4400BH Water Damaged, is it worth fixing?

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I posted a thread about my volume/mute buttons that stopped working.  Well, this morning I think I finally figured out why.  I have had a cab (outside clearance) light leaking on my truck for awhile, and I havent been able to find the source to the leak so I could fix it.  Well..... due to the angle my truck was parked last night, I came out this morning after a all night rain to see water on the inside of my windshield and on my dash where it had dripped off.  Upon looking closer, I saw water on the front of my unit.  Down where the screen meets the buttons, etc.  It started acting really irratic, shutting itself off and on, changing sources all by itsself, volume up and down, and then locked itself on the tuner source and won't allow me to do anything now.  In the bottom right hand corner of the screen I can see what appears to be water, and the screen is kinda starting to fog over.  So...... this leads me to my next question.

Is this unit worth fixing?  Or do I call it a total loss.  It sucks because the unit isnt even a year old yet.  I bought it June of 2012.  So... just looking for some opinions on which direction I should go!  Thanks!

To be honest I think its a goner. You can try and dry it with rice, but I truly think its gone. You might as well get the 8400 series. But first you need to fix the leak or buying a new unit wont do any good for long term.
