cntrylvr79
So finally got around to installing my backup camera today. So here's some pics. What I did was removed the third brake light, and made a cardboard template. once I was happy with that, I transferred the template to abs. Drilled a bunch of holes for the leds so I'd still have a third brake light. Wired those up mounted it all and there it is as you see it.

bobmun
can you post more details about the camera?
cntrylvr79
Thanks. I'll see if I can find the spec sheet for it. I got it from a customer used, so I'll have to see if I can find it online.
PaisanNYC
that is sweet. I wanted to get a camera for my truck and conceal it, cause here in NYC, damn a camera would be a billboard that says "Hay Rob Me!" LOL My third brake light is exterior and has the red tinted glass, maybe I should search eBay for "euro" third brake light for my truck?
cntrylvr79
You're rear window tinted? If it it you could mount something like mine there. Then a small cut to the tint will allow you to use the backup camera.
PaisanNYC
my rear window is tinted, but it's factory tint. I dont think it is the film kind of tint. man do I miss my old 2 door camry coupe lol 5% tints, rear deck third brake light, leather interior, turbo on the engine...sweeeeet
cntrylvr79
Yeah factory tint is normally sprayed on the glass.

cntrylvr79
nothing wrong with that. any ideas on what the new ride's going to be.
PaisanNYC
definitely SUV, probably stick with explorer or go expedition. I need 4x4 or AWD with my job. I can NEVER bang in sick to work. You know our credo, Nor rain, nor snow, blah blah blah
cntrylvr79
That's a new one I thought there were more words than blah blah. well if you go that route, then I'd say dump the flipout for a double din and join the dark side.
PaisanNYC
i would definitely go for the D3 in a new vehicle. No need for the Z1/Z2 with harddrive and all that. I dont need a slot for dvd playback either since I am the Vantec Avox master with the 120GB harddrive full of ripped dvds lol
