DougB541
So can someone explain this? I just got my D3 installed today and they did not ground the cell wire for the bypass. So I was just in my car pulling off my dash and getting the cell wire from the bundled electrical tape. ( I planned on doing the bypass in the morning.) So I start driving the car with the dash panel off and the cellular mute by itself. I clicked the first click of my ebrake to see how fast it take for the navi/video lock to kick in while moving. To my amazement...my system was completely bypassed. I have NO IDEA how this happened. My cellular mute wire is just dangling by itself but the system is completely unlocked as long as I pull my ebrake up one click (the brake does not engage). I closed up my dash and amazingly its still unlocked. Any ideas???
coocho
It isnt necessary to remove the phone mute cable. Maybe he added a wire of his own and grounded that.
DougB541
He called and let me know he can't by pass the unit for me. I had already moved the cellular mute wire into the bottom pin of the harness. I tried the nav while moving right after I got my car and it shut off. So it wasn't working before. The most I did was move the cellular mute wire from the bundled wires it was connected to. I honestly have no idea how this is working right now.
coocho
Actually if you have the ebrake grounded and you are going less than 15mph, the buttons arent blocked out. Maybe that is why your buttons are locking up after you start going faster.
DougB541
Thats the thing...thats what WAS happening. I just tested it now going 40...no lock out.

powa
1 question, if i do bypass, does the bluetooth still function? i mean like when there is a phone incoming call, will it mute the music on the background while i taking the call?
DougB541
Yeah, you're all set on that one.
coocho
yeah, the mute wire doesnt control that feature. Wire phones is what it controls.
