tonysil
I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu and the radio has a bunch of other features in it, other than just the radio. I have seen conversion kits to put in a single din radio, but can't seem to find anything that would allow me to put in a double din. My question is has anyone put the d3 (or any double din) into a late model chevy? And if you have, what did you use for the info/menu ?
Slody4Futbol
Metra 95-3302 for the double din dash kit... you won't have that info center like was in the radio anymore when you replace it to my knowledge, unless you can access it on the dash in any way
drbell_2332
I have a 2005 malibu maxx, and the metra 95-3302 works great, but the bypass works for like a day and then starts to cut off after I hit 10 mph. Has anyone else had a prob with this in a newer model chevy? I can reset the avic d-3, but after a day or a couple of hours it all goes wrong again. Can anyone help? It's a wiring issue with your bypass, not the vehicle.
drbell_2332
I've checked it 4 times, and still nothing. I've changed my ground also so that it is actually grounded to the body, double checked my mute wire and it in all the way, then worked fine until the next morning. necro
You're having a ground problem. The wires themselves may be ok, but they aren't grounding. Did you try tapping into the ground on your factory wire harness?
drbell_2332
Yes, did that the first time, and then grounded it to the car after that did not work. I'll try it again and see what happens.
rising_suns
Something to watch for: The more you play around with the wiring, the more there is a chance of breaking the strands inside the insulation without you even knowing it.
