vtail
Greetings...along with help from this forum, I was able to install my D3. Since then, I have some sort of draw on my battery. I haven't had time to start trouble shooting yet, but is it possible that by allowing the D3 to charge my Ipod could be responsible for the battery drain? Thanks, vtail

WRichieX
Hey Vtail, dunno if it's the same problem, but after my d3 install I had a battery drain problem as well. My problem was that when I hooked up the VSS wire behind the instrument cluster, I didn't plug one of the plugs back in all the way. This caused the no measure to be read by the computer, thus the the alternator was not recharging the battery. Once I plugged everything back in, everything worked fine. On your cluster, do you get a battery icon lighting up?
vtail
Interesting...I did not hook up the VSS wire to anything. I just coiled it up behind my glove box so I could hook it up if necessary in the future. I don't see how this could be a problem...but I'm certainly open to opinions. I don't think it's an alternator issue. It's a new car and after jump starting and running it, the battery is charged. Thanks for your reply. vtail
WRichieX
well....worth a shot. Good luck. But if you're battery keeps dying, try testing the alternator. Maybe it's not charging. And that doesn't necessarily mean the alternator is bad. Just something is loose and the alternator is not charging.
necro
I leave my iPod hooked up 24/7. It's been in the car for the past two months and I haven't seen any battery drain.
vtail
Thanks all for the info...at least I can eliminate the Ipod as the potential problem. vtail
