hi all.. i installed my z2 and hooked up the dimmer wire and it does nothing. i checked the wire and its hooked up and to the same wire that was hooked up to my n3. i have a 2008 f350.. i also hooked up the vss wire and most of the functions on that screen work, like the mph and volts. but a few dont work, like the direction.. does that mean i dont have the right vss wire ? or what ??

thanks..

Dimmer: Make sure that you have the correct wire. the best way to check that would be to get a test light or digital volt meter hook up to the wire you have and turn on the parking lights it should go to 12v or it will go to ground. I know that ford likes to put 3 wires for illumination and dimmer.

the dimmer wire will dim you head units light for at night when turn on the parking lights.

VSS: I think that it is a grey/black wire behind the radio but i could be wrong. If your speed is comming up on the z2 and it is the same as your speedometer than it is correct. i do know that you have to drive it for about 2miles making left and right turns so that it can learn.

You know sorry azz cc in woldorf maryland told me that the illumination would not work with my auto head lights in my 2004 yukon, so i took it to this small audio shop and they hooked it up the way wanted it to work,

now when it gets dark my head lights come on and also the screen dims down to a nice easy on the eyes level and also the map tunrs into the night mode all by its self. :D
