A couple of basic install questions:

Recommended Posts

Questions for a 2005 Ford F150.

#1. Anyone know the best place to access and the colors of the Reverse signal input wire and the Car speed circuit lead wire? I am assuming that these need to be hooked up even when setting up the bypass.

#2. A Bluetooth CD-BTB100 was shipped with my D3. The IP-BUS wires will connect, but the installation manual shows a CD-BTB200. Anyone know if what they shipped will work? The manual also does not show hooking up any power wires. Does it receive power from the radio through the BUS cable?

#3. How is connecting the reverse wire going to affect the use of a back up camera? I would like to be able to use it while going forward as well.

Thanks in advance.

1) speed sense- grey/black in radio harness

reverse- black/pink in drivers kick panel

2) the btb200 is the one you want. the 100 will is older and will work, but you may have problems auto connecting. and yes you do need the power wire harness as well

3) you hook up the reverse from the avic to the reverse in the casr. you hook up the power for the camera to accessory. this way it always comes on automatically in reverse and you can also turn it on any time you want

Okay, sorry for sounding retarded, but just want to make sure I got this straight.

I have the yellow/black mute wire moved for the by-pass. That and the green parking brake wire go to ground.

You are saying there is a grey/black wire in the factory radio harness that I tie the pink speed signal wire out of the D3 to.

I extend the purple/white reverse wire out of the D3 to a black/pink wire in the drivers side kick panel.

Hook the power cord for the camera to accessory where? Anywhere? You just mean it is powered whenever the car is cranked, correct?

Also, what about the bluetooth? Hook the hot there to come on with accessories as well??

Thanks for the insight. I am trying to make sure I get it hooked up right the first time.

Pal, you don't know how much I appreciate it. I already have an email in to get the correct bluetooth device.

One last question, they sent me a factory connect harness for a 2003 model Ford. Do you know if that will work work on an 05. I have already noticed that many of the wires are not correct. This adapter has 5 brown wires labeled mute, yet the directions explain that there should be other colored wires there that are missing, the blue antenna wire for example. I guess the factory had an over run on brown wire that day!!! I guess I could see what color the wires were in the factory harness, but I am sure that they will not all match up correctly. I should probably send that back and look for one local that I can see before I get it.

I already have a harness adapter from the previous install. I found the grey/black wire in the factory harness - located in PIN 14. The mated wire coming out of the adapter I have is pink, but the wire itself is labeled as phone mute. Just disregard the writing on the wire and connect the pink speed wire from the D3 and connect it to the pink wire out of the adapter which mates to the grey/black wire in the factory harness??

Just making sure.

The install is delayed due to the CBT200 being on back order - Just my luck.
