hotrod5337
unit works flawlessly except for first thing in the morning at start up and it doesn't boot up. just black screen and no lights. the splash screen will eventually come on and radio will start working. usually anywhere from 5 min and never longer than 15 or 20 min and will work fine the rest of the day (powering off and on) until the next morning and it will do it again. not sure if it matters but the low temps have been in the mid 20s at night. vehicle is a 2006 ram 2500 and the correct interface was used. thanks for any help
jhren
Sounds like you have an intermittent short in either ignition lead or ground wire. Latter is less likely as the unit likely uses multiple ground points, i.e. antenna, chassis, etc. What is likely happening in your ignition lead has a short that is temperature and/or vibration sensitive. When a short makes contact, it arcs, the intensity dependent on how much current inrush the circuit calls for. That arc forms an extremely weak 'weld'. Works fine as long as the weld isn't broke. When your truck sits overnight, the temperature gets low enough that the material on each side of the short contracts enough to break the 'weld'. Look for this to occur in plug/jack connections first. Sometimes just unplugging and replugging will fix it. The connection also may not be fully seated. Also look for a bad wire-to-connector-pin termination. Should you not find the culprit, start looking for a really flexible spot in the wire(s). Quite rare for it to occur there, but I've had it happen... and you cannot see it.
