Guest chad
I had a hard time trying to create a backup copy of my Navigation Disc. I tried a couple of ways and all failed. I wasted 5 Dual Layer Disc!! I tried +R DL or the -R DL, tried Verbatim, FujiFilm DVDs but all failed. Anyway, how are you guys backing up your Navigation Disc??? My steps are. 1. Use DVD Decryptor to create an ISO file from the Original Disc. 2. Create using Nero at 4x, Finalize Disc settings with DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL Someone in the forum suggested using 1x but the option is not available on my Nero. Still no ok. Whats wrong??? Please help!! drew92
I was able to successfully make a backup by using nero. Just made a Nero image and burned with DVD+R DL disc at 2.4x

I use Verbatim DVD+R DL media with Pioneer AVIC-N3. Are there any special settings that I got to look out for when burning? Also, it says that I burn 100% successfully after verification so what can be wrong? - Charles
drew92
when I use Nero, I just use image burn with no special settings. You are saying that the disc burns but just won't work in the n3? If so, that is very strange. Maybe the drive is having problems with your media.
Guest
It sounds like you might want to update the firmware of your DVD Recorder. I had a burn problem with DVD+R DL and the -R DL wouldn't recognize at all even though my DVD rec. says it will support both NEC3540. I updated the firmware and I haven't had a coaster yet with either -R DL or +R DL on 4 sets of backups. I used DVD Decrypter and Alcohol 120%.

Mine recognize DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL. No problem burning it. It says 100% completed and 100% verified. I'll try to use Alcohol to burn later. - Charles
Guest chad
Oh. One more thing. I read the forum and when people failed to burn their DVD, it says "Insert Appropriate Disc". For me, I don't get that. In fact, when I tried to "reset" using the service menu and when I boot up again, there is this screen where it requires me to select my language etc and it successfully gone through all those but still not allowing me to use the search function - Charles
Guest
Folks...not sure if this helps...but I have burned many Avic discs as I tend to scratch them all. Our units should be able to read most decent media. If it will play a movie on the media, you should be ok. Please note that as far as I know, you have to have the "BOOK TYPE" set to "DVDROM" (someone, please correct me if I am wrong). Many DL dvd burners do not support the changing of booktypes...but some do. THis could be why you cannot get your disc to work, even though the burn has completed. I would suggest using DVD Decryptor, and set the booktype. For more info on burners that support booktypes, there is a pretty knowledgable post found here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=135828 Hope this helps, it suuuuuuuure helped me =]
