Midgeth Hearse xB
I removed my rear wiper and mounted the camera in the existing hole. It turned out really nice!
computergeek
Looks good! Any trouble spots? I am going to be putting one into my new xB in the next week or so, but going to use a "plate cam". Pretty cool idea about using the wiper mount!
Midgeth Hearse xB
Looks good! Any trouble spots? I am going to be putting one into my new xB in the next week or so, but going to use a "plate cam". Pretty cool idea about using the wiper mount! The only problem I had was wiring the cam in the hatch. Well, it wasn't really a problem, but it was a pain in the butt getting the cable through the hatch and up through the grommets and into the head liner. There is an existing harness that is ran for the rear wiper pump, if you pull that back out about 18" and then tape the cable to it, you can pull it through fairly easily. My buddy did the programming for the steering wheel control and from what I saw, that was a piece of cake. He also bypassed it, which is also a piece of cake. Install took about 2 hours total. I know it's probably not the best in quality, but it does the job. It's really clear during the day and adjusts well to direct sunlight. At night the headlights get really big, but you can definitely see behind you. This is a definite must for cars with really dark tint on the back window at night!
