Well fellow forum members with the help of another member who but me on the right track I sussufully made working backup copies of my D3 Navigation disc, East and West, very simple with the correct program and a DVD Burner that burns dual layer DVD's and a few Dual Layer DVD's

I use the Verbatim brand, What I did was get a copy of the program DVD Decrypter, insert your orginal disc into the burner then open Decrypter up under Mode choose the to make a ISO file in the Read mode, then sat back and wait for it to do its thang. It takes around 30 min. besure and save the file to a folder on your Hard Drive. When thats done making the image, insert a Dual Layer Blank Disc into the burner and using the same Dvd Decrypter program under the Mode tab choose to make a ISO using the Write Mode. locate the files that you saved there will be 3 different ones, a CPJ1184_1_A.I00 , CPJ1184_1_A.I01, and the one you need CPJ1184_1_A.MDS this is the one you will use to make the disc with. Good luck. This will keep you from scratching your orginal disc.

I see they are charging $19.95 for the program now.I've used the program for 5 or more years and it was free or you could send a donation. The creator sole the rights about 2 years ago.It works very well on most DVD's.Its called, "DVD Decrypter", pick one up at your local P2P. :D

Ummm... If you rip the disk in ISO read mode, there will be only 1 file, an ISO (disk image) file.

I don't know about the Pioneer disk copying process but the Eclipse is straight forward.Use any copying software.Copy as a data dual layer dvd.It takes about 20 - 30 mins. Then put your blank in and hope for the best.Sometimes it works then other times you have problems.

Ive toasted 4 dvds so far trying to make a backup of my D3's disc. Im not looking to profit or anything, just looking to save the originals. Ive tried Nero, Roxio, and Alcohol 120, No Dice... I keep getting an error half way through the burn process. Any Clues?

Oh yeah, Tried DVD Decrypter also, no luck with that one either.

Try turning down the speed on your DVD burner as low as possible.

I use a Mac and Toast with the disk copy feature and no problems at all. Regardless what computer or application you use, if the app has a DISK COPY feature it should work.

Trying a new session now, hopefully will work, Thanks in advance.

Nope, Same thing, Using Alcohol 120 when the progress gets to 50.4% it just fails, no explanation nothing. Had the write speed set at 1x, the lowest possible. Gonna try my last disk on hand with DVD Decrypter, if that dont work I guess its off to flea bay.

Something is either wrong with your system files used to burn files or a defect in your burner.

Ive tried on both my puter (Dell) and my bosses puter (HP) (and they both btw have DVD DL write drives) and both do the same thing. Gonna play some more, there may be something simple that im missing. Thanks for all the help.

Make sure there is nothing on your pc's running in the background that might be addressing the data bus at a certain interval. Check for apps running in the background. I would just hit ctrl, alt, delete and quiet everything until you finish what your trying to do.

If you will read my post and follow it to the T it should work, I did both disc East and West back to back with no error and no wasted disc. Just use DVD Decriypter for both reading and writeing. Some say it might matter what disc brand you use I used the Verbatim brand.

Success!!!! Ok, using DVD Decrypter and burning at 1x speed I was able to burn the East disc and it works fine in the HU. Thanks to all....

West Too! Yay!!! :D

Try different types of media, some work better than others.I use verbatim and most of the time it works. In one of my drives I can't burn HP brand at all for anything!

Posted Apr 02, 2008 · 22:31 UTC#17

Well get this, just went to make sure that the West disc was working....nope, and I burned it in the exact same way as the East, go figure. It even said that the write process was sucessful, but when I load it into the HU it gives a read error.

Ill try a different type of disc, right now im using HP.... maybe that is the problem. East disc works fine.

Congrats! what was the secret the speed?

Posted Apr 11, 2008 · 22:46 UTC#19

Set it to burn at 1x, but get this, The East disc went off without a hitch, and has spent the last week in my D3 happily diplaying XM logos, but the west disc went belly up twice. I ran out of disc and just havent gotten around to gettin some more. The ones I had were HP's, may try some Verbatims or anything else I can find at Wally World, when I make it that way, been busy at work lately.

What kind of burner do you have? My BenQ will take a disc and read it and show the quality of the disc. For me +R's are the best choice. You should be able to write at half the speed of what it's capable of writing at. Your quality is what suffers at full speeds. I use anydvd which will rip the copy protection off any dvd, data or movie. Then I go to nero and copy image, book write, iso and it works for me. If your using alcohol are you checking the "ignore errors" box?

Im using an HP computer with a Matisu (i think) burner. Writing with DVD Decrypter but I do have alcohol 120 on hand. Been busy lately with other stuff and havent had a chance to play with them lately, but ill get it figured out one way or the other... Im persistant like that

Ok,

Finally got to sit down and reburn some disc and I was able to make two perfect good working copies. This time i used Memorex disc; same settings on DVD Decrypter. Funny the HPs were giving so much trouble. Anyway... Just a bit of info for anyone interested.

Posted Apr 19, 2008 · 00:33 UTC#23

i downloaded dvd decrypter and despite what i read (skimmed) from this thread, it is still free to use

someone said iso format does not use mds file, which is true, but for some reason dvd decrypter creates extra file formats when creating iso files.

i burnt my working west copy with dvd decrypter @ 1x speed on a FujiFilm +R DL dvd which is really a rebranded Ritek disc. first try no problem. i have an LG sata burner. i'm not going to copy east disc because i won't be needing it anytime soon or ever and i don't want to waste dvds

i didn't even need to close anything and i had a lot of crap open... 3ds max, wmp11, photoshop, bittorrent, http server, squeeze center (mp3 server).

so FujiFilm / Ritek confirmed working.

I had good luck at first by using DVD Decryptor and my Pioneer DL burner and Verbatim disk, but just this week I tried it again by buring the West disk and it work fine, then after that tried the East disk and ruined 8 disk. not sure if the burner is the problem even tried different speeds and different brand disk with no luck. Any clues on this matter.

did you try ritek/fujifilm? make sure ur not using any memory/cpu intensive apps while burning at 1x speed. no need to try other speeds because if 1x doesn't work, others wouldnt
