I need help guys/gyals, i have a Z1 unit. I am parked, engine off, parking break up and still I can't add address and use various navigation functions. Can't even watch DVDs. Its like the unit thinks i'm still driving, but I am not! Has anyone else ran into a similar situation? been searching this forum, but was not able to find any details pertaining to this issue.

Thanks in advance :)

have you applied any of the "service packs"... OR are you running the flasher to bypass the Z1

which service packs? i just bought a nissan 350z and it came with this unit. So im not even sure what it has and what year it was built. I have tried some of the flashing technique where you turn on and then off the headlights at startup, but that did not work. I did not buy the bypass circuit chip for it. I did run the freeze/lockout firmware to stop the freezing at the "Pioneer" startup screen, that worked great. Other then that I have not installed anything else. Any suggestions? what other service packs are out there which may help resolve the issues?

I just noticed that someone else actually had a similar problem here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=496

But that topic was not resolved. Im having the exact same problem. Bunch of keys on the Navigation Menu is greyed out (locked). When driving or parked they remain the same, locked/greyed out.

Might be time to take your dash apart to find out what you've actually got... what wires are grounded (or not) as the case may be

Without that information, there's no real way anyone on here can help you out

Sorry.....

ok, thanks for your help.

I guess i shall do that and post any pics of the wiring.

Look at this series of pages... should be easy enough to understand what you've actually got (and how to get around your problems)

Thanks, I actually looked over that link. I dont know when this was manufactured. I guess by taking it off i'll know, then if i must i'll just buy that circuit chip thats up for sale. But my thing is, why in the world does the unit lock out/grey out the navigation keys when parked? That basically defeats the purpose of having the navigation/DVD function, LOL! Im going to assume it was an installation issue, something with the wiring.

Thanks for you help BigFloppy!.

Here is another Topic similar to mine: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ce1cb7cef7

Good point, maybe I should check the wire attached to the hand brake. Let me know if there are any more suggestions that does not involve me ripping my car apart :)
