Any word on any updated Nav DVD's for the D3?

Posted May 25, 2008 · 19:38 UTC#2

No. They will be on their website when they come out

Posted May 25, 2008 · 21:38 UTC#3

Pioneer refuses to even state *IF* they even plan on any updated map and POI DVDs for the D3, much less *WHEN* to expect them. My guess is the D3 is now unsupported, given how bug-ridden and prototype-looking the menus and error-plagued the Bluetooth is.

My prediction: We will NEVER see any map update or software upgrade for the D3. Ever.

We all bought lemons with the AVIC-D3. I've moved on the Kenwood...good stuff! Check out the latest models in Crutchfield's catalog.

Yea, it's pretty annoying.... since they updated the D1 quicker and seemed more supportive..... Thats the reason why I bought my D3. Not sure if I will buy another Pioneer..... I still like them for the money and it works well for me. Even though Nav takes longer routes at times but it always gets me there when I have no idea how to get there...... well I shouldn't say always.... as it does have some address errors and addresses missing.

They need to get an update out now... I mean were almost half way through 2008!

the update for all models will be summer 2008. they did not state the month but im thinking june.

Posted May 26, 2008 · 22:09 UTC#6

They always come out in summer time, have every year for the last 8 years. To assume the D3 is "unsupported" because the disks aren't here earlier than ever before is retarded

The Pioneer website says the new disks will be out in July. I cannot wait to see the upgrades. :D

Posted May 31, 2008 · 17:17 UTC#8

I went to the website and saw nothin.. I got an email from Pioneer a few weeks ago statin the new disk will be out at the end of august to september. In between that time frame. But when I went to the website I havent seen any indication of the release date.

My bad, I didn't see it. Good eye tho. Hopefully they dont let us down and actually fix these bugs and add better features.

Posted May 31, 2008 · 23:38 UTC#11

Cool ... added my email to the notify list ... is there any fact to the rumor that if you register you unit with Pioneer online they send you the first disc update for free?

Posted Jun 01, 2008 · 00:50 UTC#12

I have heard the same rumor myself. I have heard that some people have gotten a free upgrade when they have registered their units. Not sure how factual it is tho.

Posted Jun 01, 2008 · 16:26 UTC#13

I emailed Pioneer asking them if we get the first update for free. I will post response if and when I get it. We will see? I hope that rumor is true.

Posted Jun 01, 2008 · 19:24 UTC#14

yea i registered my d 3 back in sept 07, so a free update would be nice, i wonder if there will be any improvments in the user interfaces of some of the sources on the d3?????

Posted Jun 01, 2008 · 19:33 UTC#15

I'd be happy if all they did was add RDS for the radio stations. I wonder if additional hardware would be need to do that ... or if it just firmware they could write ...

Posted Jun 01, 2008 · 22:06 UTC#16

Yes Pioneer has sent out free UPDATE software in the past. What you guys are wanting are UPGRADE discs. BIG difference in terminology according to Pioneer. The upgrade discs cost money. kthxbi

i cannot wait until they bring out the new discs i find that some roads are unaccurate and do not have the same bends and twists to them :( also when i had my n2 it didnt even have some of the streets even though they have existed for a long time (ie 5 years or more)

Posted Jun 05, 2008 · 22:15 UTC#18

The 2008 update disk is gonna be available in July... it is noted on Pioneer's website when looking at the 2007 update DVD's....

1/2 way thru the year..... dumb

Posted Jun 05, 2008 · 22:34 UTC#19

It's not dumb to put them out halfway through the year if they put them out halfway through the year EVERY year.

I personally think its kinda lame that Pioneer takes this long to release the update discs. I also think just because Pioneer is promotin their F series, they lackin the support of the previous models. I mean the D3 has lots of bugs and Pioneer hasn't budged to even address them. Just like some one pointed out, in the bluetooth menu, DIALED is spelled DAILLED. LMAO come on FIX IT. Overall the D3 needs new firmware, upgrades and the updated maps. Thats my 2 cents or maybe it was 3 cents :P

That would be great, but what are that chances of that actually happening?

The chances of Pioneer doing just that you ask??? I think I have a better chance of having a navigation system named after me :?

My guess is they could easily add the RDS capability to the AVIC D3, but won't.

Have you all noticed the D3 isn't even listed as a current product on the Pioneer website anymore? As I said, they're not even selling it anymore on their site...this means the D3 has been DISCONTINUED, no?

By the way, doesn't it bother you that you're gong to buy the upgrade disks for $250 or so (assuming they even bother putting it out), when your neighbor gets free map updates on his $200 portable Tom Tom many times a year?

Thanks Pioneer! Way to value your customers!

It's been stated before, multiple times. ALL disk based nav systems will need upgrade disks, and the upgrade disks cost $$$. It's not just Pioneer. They are all like that. The portable units are different, because you can just hook them up to a computer and load in the updated map data or load it in from a flash card or whatever.

And yes, the D series has been discontinued and replaced by the F series.
