Has anyone else updated their iPod touch to the 2.0 firmware? I did and now it seems that my F700 will not recognize it. I'm not using the Pioneer adapter, rather I have the official Apple connector between the iPod and the headunit; which worked just fine before updating.

Anyone else have this issue or has tried using the new 3G iPhone? I'm hoping using the Pioneer adapter will allow this to all work again.

My 3G works fine with the Apple A/V cable kit. I don't have a touch though, so I can't offer any insight there.

I am having the same problem. I am using the Pioneer Adapter and the iTouch no longer works at all. It will not even charge. It's like it is not even plugged in.

Roll back the firmware. If that's what's caused it, it should work again. If it still doesn't work, I don't know what to tell ya. If the new firmware is causing it not to work, roll back the firmware, and avoid updating it until another firmware update is released.

I have had nothing but trouble with the F700BT and this is just one more. It sounds like the iPhone 3G works fine, which also has the 2.0 update, so I am not convinced this is only an Apple problem based on all the other issues with the F700BT.

The Touch and iPhone use different firmware though, so that could very well be the issue.

You need to find someone else that has a Touch updated to 2.0 and an F-series.

Check your settings in the itouch. Make sure something isn't turned off that would cause the problem.

I too updated my iPod Touch last night to the new firmware. I love the new apps and additional stuff they have added to the Touch.

When I plugged in my iPod to listen to a podcast on my way to work it no longer works!!! DAMN YOU MONKEYS!!!

Why blame Pioneer for a firmware update by Apple?

Silly Apple junkies.

Silly Apple junkies.

I know... it was the same way when Apple rolled out the new "classic" ipods and the video output wasn't compatible with the D3 any more and people were bad mouthing Pioneer because of it. You can't blame a piece of equipment for being incompatible with something that happened or was made AFTER it was built.

I am definitely not an Apple junkie! I'm just getting annoyed with this head unit and Pioneer being slow to address the issues. I know I just need to tough it out and wait for the fixes to come.

If it were a quick fix, they'd have been done a month ago. I'm not software writer, but I don't think it's easy to re-write and fix bugs when most of the components are sub-contracted out to other manufacturers. In my line of work, fixing stuff is easy. Its the troubleshooting and finding out exactly what causes the problems thats a pain in the @ss. I'm not making excuses for them, just pointing out reality.

Last night I tried using the same cord I use to charge the iTouch from any USB Connection and it still will not even charge, yet the iTouch charges and works fine in all the other computer and wall chargers I have. I would think the USB connection on the F700 would at least be standard when it comes to charging an USB device. I'm having a real hard time convincing myself this is only an Apple issue based on all the other problems I'm having with this unit.

Upgraded the firmware on my ipod touch to 2.0. It now fails to charge or be recognized in the F700 via Pioneer CD-IU230V IPOD cable.

sucks balls.

I've just changed the first input to be AV1 and manually control the iPod Touch from the iPod itself and that works as any other AV source. I'll keep using it that way until the firmware update comes out.

I'm having the same issue with my ipod touch 2.0. It won't even recognize it at all.

Posted Jul 30, 2008 · 18:37 UTC#17

me too. I posted around here before I saw this area. I am assuming that Apple will issue an update for this. Wonder if any other radios (non-pioneer) have similar issues with the iPod Touch 2.0. :(

I missed being able to control my iPod Touch through the AVIC so lastnight I finally caved and decided to downgrade my Touch from the 2.0 firmware back to 1.1.4. That process is a real PITA!!! For those that would like to have control of their Touch through the head unit again and have NO need for any of the new apps that require the 2.0 firmware here are two sites that I found with instructions on how to downgrade:

http://www.ipodtouchhacks.com/uncategor ... ith-video/

http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/sho ... hp?t=46739

I will stay on 1.1.4 until either Pioneer puts out an update that works with the 2.0 firmware of the Touch or Apple releases another update that people confirm works with the F-Series. My fault for jumping on the new firmware the moment it came out... I will definitely wait for others to test and report first next time!

Posted Jul 31, 2008 · 20:44 UTC#19

Yeah, I refuse to do that. The 2.0 update wasn't exactly free on the iPod touch. AND it works great. I love the apps. I will give it some time, not a lot but some time, and check back with Pioneer and even Apple (if Pioneer does nothing). Hopefully they can fix this really easy. I don't see why they can't but, everything does take a bit of time. Its a brand new unit and it is supposed to support the iPod Touch. So, I can wait a bit.

I have a Kenwood DNX-7120 using the Kenwood cable and IPod Touch 2.0.

Since I updated to 2.0 I can NOW play VIDEO, unlike the previous software (1.1.4) I had AUDIO only. Whatever Apple did in the 2.0 release has me very happy not only for the new aps but the ability to play video in my kenwood unit. I hope Pioneer/Apple can fix your issues.

True... but the firmware is still sitting on my hard drive so I can always go back to 2.0 without any issues once either Pioneer or Apple fixes the problem.

maybe it has something to do with house current being AC 110v and car current being DC 12v.

Posted Aug 01, 2008 · 13:31 UTC#23

That's true, as it makes no sense for it at least not to charge. I could almost live with just that but, then I will have this cable coming from the HU to the iPod, which is what I DIDN'T want. Hence why I bought the radio in the first place :(

Posted Aug 05, 2008 · 00:02 UTC#24

I just did the update on my ipod touch to 2.1 version i was hoping that this new update will fix the problems with the 2.0 firmware but still the same

my f700 don't recognize it, i hope pioneer do something in the next update at least make it charge.

Posted Aug 05, 2008 · 15:26 UTC#25

I know, charging would be at least something at this point. the ability to play music still works if you change inputs to Video or EXT. So I can get by for the time being. But, I tend to forget to charge my iPod and when driving for about an hour each way from home to work. I usually end up killing the battery either going to work or coming home. :(

Which sucks.
