Hey guys... can you try to keep on topic here. No need to clutter up Al & Ed's topic about the fix update with discussions about microphone compatibility. Check the quote. He made a topic to discuss this stuff. Thanks.

i got one of the first units too and myne sounds horrid where do you have yours located?

As you can see, the mic is located a good distance away from the unit, leaving less leftover on the wire to coil up in the dash. Coiling up wire will lead to problems with interference and the more you have bundled up, the more susceptible to it it is.

smart place to put your mic. what happened when you put the sunvisor down?

Don't know, I almost never use the visor. I'm guessing it would block the reception somewhat, but how hard is it to flip a visor up and down if i get a phone call?

ANYWAY... BACK ON TOPIC.

Going back on topic here, I emailed Pioneer and asked about how they plan to send out updates and such. Here is the reply I got from "Pablo":

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.

Pioneer is considering making the updates available to consumer in 3 different ways. You can download them from the website, order the updates from Pioneer either CD/SD card or send the unit to Pioneer for updates.

For further information call 1-800-421-1404.

Thank You,

Pablo

BUT of course he did not indicate a date...

Anyone know how to get the update?

Posted Jul 18, 2008 · 18:50 UTC#33

Wait for it to be released by Pioneer?

Anyone know how to get the update?

Pioneer is thinking about having 3 options (said the Pioneer rep):

1. Download from their website

2. They send you a CD/SD card with update on it

3. You waste your time and Send them the Unit to update

My guess is they will have the Web download for sure. If not, they will be wasting money on CDs/SDs and time to burn and mail them. And the 3rd option is the worst, not only will you have to wait months to probably get it back from them but they will waste their own money paying some tech to install the simple update.

But first you have to wait for it to Come Out

My guess is that you will have to pay for an SD or CD upgrade, just like microsoft does with its updates. As always downloading would be free, just like microsoft. Can you image the price for SD and postage? I dont' think Pioneer would just give them away.

But I could also be very wrong about them.
