I never tried my original iPhone with 2.0 on it, but when I got my 3G and then upgraded the firmware voice dialing by name started working (by number had always worked), and video playback started working (before the video tab had been grayed out).

Can you dail by voice with a contact with multiple #s? If so I think I'm investing into the f-series finally!!!!!!!!

yes you just say the numbersin order and it will call

thank you guys! :D

Yes, you can say "call Joe Smith mobile" to dial the number directly, or if you just say "call Joe Smith", it will ask which number to call and you can say "mobile, or home, or office".

Sweet good find on the firmware update, I certainly hope this means they will release the United States version today or tomorrow as well.

It doesn't seem to say what it fixes though, no release notes? Weird.

theres only a link for the 900 tho, is that the only one thats being updated?

Hello,

I live in France and I have just updated my F900BT. No problem during the update process (1.001600 to 1.001900)

I don't know the official changes, but in my opinion, the system is more responsive. I've seen no other changes.

Boot time is 45 sec until the menu appears, 60 sec until I can use it.

PS : Before the update my bluetooth and audio/video with my iPhone V1 (2.0) was working and... it works as well with the update ;)

Hello everybody,

there is a new update for the europeen version on http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/support/support/upgrade/AVIC_F900BT_F700BT.html (Version 1900)

Anybody from Europe tried it already?

Will do it but am missing a SD card yet.

Regards

Oppee

Yep, updated. No idea yet what it has done, blue boxes still on map screen though when no route is planned.

F900 in the UK!

It says it's for the F900 and the F700 in Europe. There is no F90BT in Europe, which is why it's not included in the description.

Posted Aug 14, 2008 · 14:15 UTC#34

o damn, completely overlooked the 700 part

Posted Aug 14, 2008 · 15:13 UTC#35

Still no updates on the contacts screen?

That's really sh** as we do not have voice dial in Europe.

Do you use SD card to play music? If so, does it always set the "master volume" (under navi settings) to max whenever you play back from SD (or USB)?

Anyone use USB playback with this update? Does the resume function work any better (I have to unplug and replug my USB stick on 1.001600)?

Posted Aug 14, 2008 · 16:18 UTC#38

Sorry, I only use USB for my audio file for the moment, and I had no problem with the resume... I can't help you :(

I'd really like to know what have been updated with this new firmware...

Well just used it on the way home.

Only difference I have noticed is when the speed camera warning beeps come on now the music cuts out completely, whereas before it would beep over the top.

Nothing else.

I feel very let down.

Has anyone else noticed the extremely horrible voice and system prompt volume controls? I have actually seen it where you turn the volume for the voice to zero, were talking dragged all the way to the left, and it STILL would come on like I did nothing. I had to recheck just to make sure it really was turne down yep it was.

They also need to seperate the vocie area, navigation voice should have nothing to do with the voice that gives you feedback for your voice recognition commands.

I figured out a fix for the text too light problem, keep the map on the night time setting, amazing how well you can now see the text for the route distance time information in the lower left corner.

I'll have to give that a try.

how do you keep it on night, doesnt it change accordingly with the time?

You can manually set it to stay on either day or night all the time, or have it switch between the two automatically.

I've installed it! :)

I haven't tested it much, but I've noticed a couple of things so far -

- USB resume still doesn't work

- SD cards still resume from the start of the track that was last playing, not the exact point where it left off

- Starting playback from USB/SD no longer sets the "master volume" to max - they've actually fixed something! :D

installed this 2n update 1900 on the avic-f900bt but didn't find improvements so far. will test more tomorrow when driving to work

the update took about 8 min.

i have compared the updates 1600 and the 1900 and so far as i can see only the parrot.dll and parrot.ini files are different. also that girl (loading.bmp) is removed from the data.zip file.

if you open the Release.txt file you can check the versions of those files.

since my mobile battery was flat i couldn't test the bluetooth yet.

any other eu user tested the bluetooth with this new 1900 version?

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 12:20 UTC#47

It's amazing they can't just patch that one single file. Are you saying they made you reload the ENTIRE os from scratch over 200mb's just for two tiny files?

That's like Microsoft making you reinstall windows everytime a patch came out, talk about wasting time, bandwidth and making things more difficult then they need to be.

Posted Aug 15, 2008 · 12:28 UTC#48

see it your self.

just extract those 1600 & 1900 files in different folders and compare.

anyway, i noted that after i started the avic-f900bt (previous listen to a radio station) the radio started playing and i could control the volume after a couple seconds! :D even with the message bar still in place. improvement?

I thought you could always do that. I normally put the volume at a 'safe' level before turning off the car, so I may not have noticed that this wasn't possible before the update.

This also works with other sources. I know I've listened to CD audio and XM while playing around in 'testmode'. You can't do anything other than adjust the volume, but it's nicer than having to listen to silence while 'hacking'... 8)
