Does anyone know how well this unit really works?

 

I just bought it for my 2007 Tahoe with Bose, NO navigation.

 

I'm reading you cant put a new destination into the Nav portion of the unit while driving? That's retarded! I just spent a load of money!

 

Can anyone help on this issue?
