when i switch over to the navi screen i have a blue square on the left and a blue line going thru the top..how do i get rid of it

Unfortunately, you don't.

That is where the turn by turn guidance graphics are displayed. For some reason they stay there even when you don't have a destination programmed in. Just have to deal with it. Pioneer may eventully change it, they may not. For right now it is standard behavior.
