I've been reading up on iGo and Mio over on GPS Passion and it looks like we should be able to add our own TTS voices with just a little work. I spent a couple of hours playing around with it this morning following the instructions in this thread and couldn't get it to recognize the new voices, so it's not the exact same process, but it should be something similar.

Voice files are stored on the device in MyFlashDrive/AAPL2/iGo/ScanSoft/RealSpeakSolo/speech/rssolo in zipped format.

I'll post more updates as I uncover more information.

Agreed...KITT would be the best although I wonder if they secured it somehow so they could sell those units.

I'm making some progress on this, so hopefully I'll have some succinct instructions for everyone to follow after this weekend.

Although KITT isn't available, the other voices I've found are MUCH higher quality and don't sound nearly as computerized as Samantha.

That file for "Jill" is just the rules files, not the actual voice data.

Not yet, I haven't had any time to investigate this more, as there have been other more pressing issues (like broken UI components).

Hopefully Stephanie and others can lend a hand here to help do some of the heavy lifting.

Not to take this thread off topic, but I just saw a commercial that they're premiering a Kinght Rider TV Series...It doesn't star David Hasslefoff, it's not the original Knight Rider car (it's a Shelby GT500) and the computer isn't even KITT's voice

I saw a preview on that, and I actually saw the car up close at a show, I don't know if it was just a fake Shelby with kits but it was amazing. still nothing like the real deal.

Has any one tried out the Voice file I gave out on here yet, if so how did it work out. I have not had time to do it my self yet but I will tomorrow.
