Does Your Phone Ring?

When placing a call with my iPhone 3G, I don't ever hear the phone ring through the F-Series. The music mutes, but it is completely silent until the other person answers the phone.

Other iPhone users, do you have the same issue?

Other Phone users, is this how your phone works also?

I've only made a couple calls, but now that you mention it, I don't think I've heard the phone ring. It's more like silence, then click and someone is there. I'm using a SE w610i (GSM) handset.

Hmm, so sounds like it's phone independent. I find that I often don't even hear the other person say hello the first time.

Sounds like this one is a bug pending more information.

I wonder if it is a quirk of the way GSM phones work? If I look at my phone, it doesn't show the call as connected until the other party picks up. I'll hear ringing of course in the earpiece but the GSM system won't log the call as connected till they pick up the phone... I don't know where the ringing sound comes from though, if that's generated inside the handset or if it actually comes from the phone company.

So maybe that's the source of the bug; that the nav unit doesn't connect the audio until after the phone signals that the call has connected.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my HTC Touch Diamond which is a Windows Mobile based system.

Hope we can fix this annoying issue...

My phone rings every time I call out.

Moto Krzr K1 on T-mobile (GSM phone if anyone's wondering).

It looks like a lot if the phone issues we're having are phone dependent.

I only hear the phone ring when I dial from my phone. If I dial out through the F-series or call from the contact list, I do not hear any ringing.

I have a blackberry 8800 phone.

I have already turned my bluetooth off. It frustrated me more than I enjoyed it. Too many bugs/issues.

Has this problem corrected itself for anyone else. Mine still wont ring. The funny thing is, I swear at first when I got my unit it did every time. And then the other day it rang while making a call, but only once.

I just noticed mine ringing the other day. I figured it was due to the 2.0 update, so hopefully it's a permanent fix.

I have a 700BT and the iPhone 3G. I hear the phone ringing when I call from the handset or the stereo.

Well glad to know it works for some, doesn't for me though. :(

I have the Sprint Mogul and it rings fine. I made sure I set the ringer low and mute for music. I know the yellow black wire is for additional muting for an additional parrot bluetooth module so its not that.

Mine works fine...but I dont use any software hacks

Iphone3g or SE w810i rings everytime, very loudly and i cant turn it down.

My AT&T Tilt won't ring or dial contact using VR. Tried it hackless and with the software hack. No problems pairing or transferring though...

Use the volume buttons on the phone to turn down the volume when it's paired to the F-Series, that will turn down the ringer for bluetooth.

Was there ever a fix mine still doesnt ring. I have an att tilt. If i place a call through the radio and hold the phone to my ear the phone is rining. just not throug the radio seems bt doesnt pick up till the phone call is picked up. I did hardware mod bypass and a few simple map hacks. it didnt work before the map hacks. I have always had the hardware bypass though.

The funny thing is mine actually did ring through the system upon making a call but it just stopped working at some point for no apparent reason and hasn't worked but a couple of random times.

Do you have the hardware mod bypass. Im just trying to find something poeple have in common that make it not work. I would assume something as easy as this would have came up in quality control. But you never know.

Yes, and the problem started before I started moding my unit.

It seems to be a compatibility issue. I have the att tilt which wont ring. I tried my wifes samsung black jacks and it rings like a champ perfect. Both runnings windows mobile. I sent an email off to both pioneer and HTC maker of the att tilt. Asking if there is any know compatiablity problems and if there is any channels to go through to get this looked at.

I got a nice reply back from htc and I have to agree with them. I did some more testing today and my htc works with MS sync, my jawbone headset, going to test it tomorrow on a lexus navigation that runs an ecplise series. So far all fingers point to pioneer. here is the msg back from HTC

We understand that it is important you receive all the information to best utilize your device. When it comes to Bluetooth on our devices, if it connects and you are able to talk, then it is working. Any further features, sounds, etc. are on the headset’s side. The options that our device provide are either “hands-free†or “stereoâ€. Neither of these determines if the headset will ring or not, unfortunately. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the headset.

While I don't own this little gem of a head unit....yet.

I have had the chance to use plenty of blue tooth devices on the phone accessorie side of the market.

Motorola DOES seem to have more of the little things such as beeps for notifications, and assigning buttons that access the phone from the blue tooh device. (volume, voice dial, ect.) While other phones seem to be catching on, it was also mentioned that the "standard" for bluetooth doesn't realy include the little things as a "must have" in order to be considered bluetooth compliant. Which is why HTC told you if it connects and you can talk, we did our job and its working.
