since the data file is already big enough here some code to change the compass button into a navigation cancel button;

; <SPRITE spr_Compass bmp="compass_bg.bmp" x=730 y=72 z=5>

<SPRITE spr_Compass bmp="compass_bg.bmp" x=730 y=72 z=5 visiblemodel="!navigation.has_route">

<SPRITE spr_Compass bmp="compass_bg.bmp" x=730 y=72 z=5 onrelease='run sc_btnARM_Delete_OnRelease' visiblemodel="navigation.has_route">

have fun,

Do you copy and paste

;

to the end of the file "navigatemap_800_480.ui"

If so I tried that and it gave me an error mesage, could not boot up.

If not could you explain.

I haven't applied the change yet, so I can't say this will work, but drawing on my limited knowledge of coding in other languages my guess would be:

Find the line "" in your existing 'navigatemap_800_480.ui' file. Replace that line with the supplied fix listed above.

The ';' at the beginning will "comment out" that first line of code. "Commenting out" means that the program won't use any code with a semicolon at the beginning of the line, the semicolon effectively makes that line invisible and unused. This way, the new code will be used in place of the old.

Anyone who thinks/knows otherwise, feel free to blaspheme me and my thoughts. In the meantime, I will test this and report back.

Was this correct?

What do you mean is it correct? Is what correct? His hypothesis as to how to apply the modification? Or something else?

Yes, he's exactly right. Comment out the first line, then add the next two and it works.

Yep, applied as laid out above and it works as described. Great job to whoever put this code together, one more piece in the puzzle that is making this a stellar DVD/Nav unit.

Does the affect the function of the compass button at all? I presume this is the directional arrow you are changing. I guess what I'm asking, is does the compass still work, but this just adds touch-button code behind it to cancel the nav voice?

Sorry if that question should have been obvious.

Posted Oct 14, 2008 · 17:44 UTC#14

It does not affect compass function at all, just adds an action that occurs if you click it.

What program do you open "navigatemap_800_480.ui" in to modify? i tried notepad but it was mostly unrecognizable characters.

Thanks!

Posted Oct 15, 2008 · 20:44 UTC#17

It should open in Notepad just fine (it is a straight text file).

I usually edit it in EditPlus, but I do have a license for it...

have fun,

Thinking about it, there's on need to define the compass twice, and have iGO keep track of navigating thу route for yet another model.

You could have just one compass, and in onRelease have code like this:

onRelease='runif navigation.HasRoute 1 sc_CheckAndDelete'

and then code sc_CheckAndDelete in navigatemap.ui to be something like

runif navigation.HasRoute sc_btnARM_Delete_OnRelease

This might be a bit cleaner approach, because it does not force iGO to keep track of yet another model...

Ypoiu probably could even have it in the onrelease code itself, but I can't check it right now becasue IPAQ emulator I use has different model (for some reason they make different builds for different manufacturers with some chnages ot core functionality...)

it works great!!

I'm using the linear compass mod.. I suppose I may have to alter the code a bit to get this to work?

Posted Nov 17, 2008 · 08:13 UTC#21

well if your using keepers data zip with that linear compass mod then he tells how to change the delete route button

To make the compass the stop nav button in my data zip you need to change the following line in navigatemap_800_480.ui

;Stop Nav Button

with this

;Stop Nav Button

I'm not using that ZIP file. Just using the linear compass mod, so I would think it might be a different button name on there. Gonna try to experiment.

I just spent the better part of 15 minutes thumbing thru the file directory looking for the "navigatemap_800_480.ui" file. Can anyone give a quick hint where the file is located?

Posted Jan 30, 2009 · 01:48 UTC#24

DATA.zip > ui_pioneer > 800_480 > ui > navigatemap_800_480

:)

Did you end up trying this? Or anyone else?
