Does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like with Sirius plugged in? I heard it isn't as pretty as the XM part which is strange to me. Kind of upsetting if I can't See the Station Name, Artist and Song Title at once.
Sirius Display?
Sorry no pictures but you are correct. The Sirrius display is not too awesome. It will display the channel or artist or song or composer but not at once. You have to continually hit the display button to go through all of these different views.
There is however plent of room in the display to show all this information. The F Series however currently doesn't do it.
Hopefully in some coming firmware update?
I can confirm the display sucks. I am a Sirius transfer customer and if I were starting from scratch I would go with XM. I too hope the next SW release fixes this. There are MANY problems with the way things are displayed that software could easily fix. If you have HD radio, the display is not great either.
Its a hardware limitation from the DEI tuners, the next update ain't gonna fix it. 1 line is it

But if you think about it all of the information from the tuner is present. The headunit could automatically poll it to get the artist name and then the song title without forcing the user to cycle through the display. This should be pretty simple to accomplish in software.
Why is this a hardware limitation? I have an old kenwood single din head unit today and I can see three lines. They scroll when the text is too long.
I was hoping that this would be an upgrade, not a step backward...
For me, this will be a show stopper unfortunately.

Any update on this with all the hacking going on?
Any update on this with all the hacking going on?
there will be none, its a hardware limitation from a device that pioneer outsourced.
Anybody have a better answer? ![]()
No, nobody has a better answer, and we never will. The limitation is in hardware not designed or manufactured by Pioneer. Until that hardware gets redesigned, this is how it's going to be.
Yikes, a little cranky today.
I don't think that reply was cranky at all.
The fact that 2 people had already confirmed that it was/is a hardware problem and wouldn't be a fixable issue before skicrave answered you is overkill.
Do you think you will get a different answer if you just keep asking the same question over and over again?
Skicrave is just a little cranky due to the flood of painfully redundant questions being posted elsewhere, (aka, "How do I get into TestMode?", "Are there any better TTS voices?", and "2D North up", etc, etc) and I can't blame him either. They made a great FAQ that helped me to get my new F700 up and running with several mods and people still don't take a second to read other posts/stickies.
Mr. HOMO, my post was sarcastic, see the little smiley face?
Nope, I don't.
Yeah capper, I mean come on! You have responses from 2 or 3 dudes on the internet! If we can't trust what we read on the internet, what can we trust? Obviously everyone in these forums are experts and have hands on knowledge of the inner workings of every product made for the car.
Silly. Just silly.
You're right, GQRilla- not everybody on these boards is an expert; just the ones that give you the answer you really want.
I'm sorry if my answer was curt, I certainly didn't mean for it to be rude, I was just trying to answer the question definitively. As Mike mentioned, we've put a lot of work into the FAQ's in each forum (with a lot left to do), in the hopes of limiting repetitive questions, so it's frustrating when something that has already been covered comes up again.
I never purported to be an expert (on anything), but I do have an intimate knowledge of Pioneer's design and protocol, and can assure that this is a limitation of the tuner itself, it's only capable of pulling one "set" of information for the current channel at a time.
When you say Tuner are you talking about the Sirius Unit or the Pioneer Unit?
I have one of the Sirius Units plugged into a USB interface to my PC and the PC software can display all items at the same time. In fact it has 1 screen that shows all channels at once with the title and artist.
The Kenwood DNX5120 uses the same Sirius tuner module. Only one line of info just like the Pioneer. The newer tuners are smaller and I guess dont support 3 lines of info.

That is false. If anything its the SB-10 module. The SCC1 worked fine with the Kenwood DNX5120.

I just pulled a DNX5120 out of my car last weekend to put in my F90BT.
The Sirius interface is virtually identical.
One line of information. That you can change to show Station, Artist , composer, or song. Pic of my DNX5120

Well I'm sorry but I had the same unit. It shows more than one line. Read the manual!
For the category list yes. For all the info on song artist and station on one channel you are listening to, No it does not

If you select "4line" from the bottom buttons it shows 4 lines of info and you can select what each line shows. Maybe that's where it displays sirius artwork. As for the Pioneer, I agree that it's the sb10 adapter, not the sirius tuner
