iPod Charging

Hey guys,

I recently upgraded to a Gen 4 nano (prior to this I had a Gen 1).

My old iPod worked fine with the Z2 iPod adaptor - played and charged.

My new iPod plays fine, but does not charge. It displays the message "This accessory dose not support charging" (or something close to that).

Anyone else experiencing this same problem with the 4th Gen Nano? Any fixes out there for it?

Thanks,

Ryan

This sounds like the same problem that the iphone 3g guys are having just a couple of threads down:

Their suggestions may work for your situation too.

I remember reading alot about the older ones having these issues with different Ipod firmwares... Some even recommended going back to older firmware.. But being that the new Iphone 3G changed, I would suspect the same for the later gen Ipods...

This other adapter may be of some interest... I believe it just snaps inline with the other connector with no additional wires... I haven't read many reviews about it, other than people complaining about the price(which I kinda agree)... I was thinking about getting one myself...but I'm actually using my old 1st gen Iphone for Ipod music... I just leave it in my truck's console, and leave it powered on, as the Avic charges... But it would be worth a shot, although 40 bucks is quite a bit for such a simple little adapter...

That accessory error is stupid... I haven't found a single accessory that it doesn't say that for...my BMW is specifically made to work with the Iphone, and it still says that... cool thing is that the BMW charges both 1st gen Iphones and the Iphone 3G

very nice of apple to change pin configs to screw up all accessories every purchased...

can anyone else confirm if they have the same issue with a 4th gen nano? this seems to be the same issue as the 3G...

actually this is a nice money making scheme...force everyone to discard their old accessories and purchase new ones.

I have a Nano 4th gen. I was running into the same problem with my Nano playing but not charging. I pulled the trigger and bought the "charge converter" from http://www.cablejive.com/charge-converter. I got it in the mail and plugged it in yesterday and it DOES NOT WORK. the ipod still plays but will not charge. The forums on cablejive say that the Iphone guys are having good luck with there 100 cable and even 200 cable but the Nano 4th does not charge at all. Really starting to hate apple...no wait I definetly hate them.
