AVIC-D3 compatible with CDRB20 or CDRB10?

I've read one thread on this forum saying that neither the CDRB20 or CDRB10 will work with the AVIC-D3. I can't seem to find the thread or I would link it.

Has anyone actually attempted to do it? I'm only posing the question because everything would lead me to believe it would work (except the one post). It is a P-series unit, has a IP bus component, and supposedly works with D2 etc. The post mentioned that it was only the D3. I would expect that if it did not work, I would see a number of posts around troubleshooting it etc.

Can anyone please confirm that they are 100% sure it will not work either through attempting it or another method? If it does work, a confirmation of that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

well with all the info that i have collected buy trial by fire. as i stated you can hook up a 2 year old ipod adapter to the d3 in another post.

it will show at the bottom i think ext-1 or 2. when i hook both of my ipods up to the connections one for the ipod and the old one for the ipod.

it list it as ext-1 or something like that at the bottom next to the av1 or av2 so it should work. know that it works for that so go for it.

but what are you going to hook to it for that to use any ways. if i may ask.

Thanks for the response.

I was hoping to avoid "trial by fire" and leverage someone else's own attempt :D

The thread I was referring to in my first post is the following:

http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9560&highlight=cdrb10

The reason I want to use the CDRB10 is to hook up my sirius to the input. The reason I dont want to go with a PNR2 or the newer 2piece dock kit is that that I will lose pause/rewind functionality when compared to my sirius plug and play unit. I want to keep the AUX1 input reserved for something else like a PS2.

Any light on the original question would be appreciated!

look if an old ipod adp. will work from ext1 then there is no reason why by hooking threw the ipbus that it will not work for you but its left to you on what you want to do

Bit the bullet and bought it from Crutchfield since they have free shipping returns.

I'll update to see how it works out.

i am sure that you will be happy that you did. but you could have got one on ebay cheap. and i think the only thing is that you might not like is the interface on it.

just checkin back with you to see what the outcome was after you got everything. did it work just like i said or what was the deal with the hole thing.

Just had the chance to take the dash apart and install it. So far it does not work. I would expect EXT1 to be available but that is not the case.

I will play around with it some more and will post if I eventually get it. If not it goes back to crutchfield.

you have to have what you want pluged in to it. pluged into it and on and up and running for it to be able to see ext 1 to show up on the d3's menu to be able to use it.

now that is only if you have everything hooked up correctly like your ground and the power wire and the ip bus.
